MG Metro Turbo - Walk Around

I loved my B-Reg MG Metro 1275cc engine in black with red trim. I brought it off my mum for £800 and my insurance that year as a new "just passed" driver in 1995 was £700. I loved that car so much - I brought the Turbo body kit, but never put it on the car because it was just too rusty ..lol ... Best fun car ever :)

I bought an MG Metro Turbo brand new in late 1983. Mine was Black which was easily the best colour for this car. It was a flawed masterpiece, fantastic to drive, lots of fun and the A Plus engine had no problems being boosted with a turbocharger. The achillies heel was the gearbox, it simply could not cope with the extra power. I had third gear replaced under warranty and shortly after the 3 year warranty lapsed I had to pay for a new gearbox. Soon after that I P/X'd the Metro as I needed a bigger car. I discovered that my old Metro needed another replacement gearbox only 12 months later. Rust on the door panels was also an issue. Typical Austin Rover, launch a car before it was ready.

i had 2 x mg metro turbos both e reg both white, 1st one i had went very well kept with a mk2 golf gti 8v up to around 90, my friend had an f reg golf gti and we raced all the time, i knew it was a fast little car when the rubber mat on the passenger side flew off when i floored it, i remember the turbo came in about 3000 and got stronger as you hit 6k

I had this exact model as my second car… loved it! I see it’s sold now. Out of interest - what did this one go for?

I saw this and the black one for sale online a few months ago, both now sold. I was going to go and take a look but the one thing that put me off was the aftermarket boost gauge. I would have wanted to rip the dash out and replace with a standard one… 😢. Is this the one that got away, who knows… 😮
