I uses to have a really nice 128hp 1380 mini, shame the transmission took the engine out. I am now thinking building a nice midget to autocross, how do you like racing yours?

wicked cars! i think the trick is really getting the suspension setup well to do what you want then even being down on a bit of power you get to experience what these cars will really do and the grin that goes with it

@mgmidget-thebirthofaraceca4349 I used to work on classic British cars, and midgets were definitely my favorite to drive on the street

Love the channel - super inspirational! I'm slowly turning an old 1275 Midget into a racer. Although it needs to stay somewhat stock - but will be allowed to play with the insides of the engine and etc! I wanted to ask, what sort of speeds to the racing and road racing midgets get to? I'm struggling to find a benchmark and I don't have access to a rolling road, so before I go to an event, my best question is what sort of speeds should be expected? Aka, how much work do I have to do! Keep up the great work, Freddie

You’ll only get upto full speed on a few circuits as a midget just doesn’t have the power but 100 mph is achievable. Most sprints are shorter and twisty so it’s more about handling. Std class is the stock 70 hp 1275. Fast road class will get you upto 95hp and bored at 1330. Beyond that you’ll need 1380 and 120hp+ to be putting in the best times

@@mgmidget-thebirthofaraceca4349 Thanks for sharing! That's really good to know. My first jobs are sorting the suspension and etc out, then I'm onto fixing the dodgy gearbox, then lastly I'll step into some basic performance mods. I actually had one question I've struggled to find an answer for, you might reference it in one of your videos but I've not been able to get through them all just yet. The PVC valve on the crankcase, do you have that coming back into your carbs, or does it go to a catch can and then vent the gases? It's my main niche predicament at the moment, as I don't like the massive pipe running into my SUs and wondering if it's possible to remove it!!

the crank vent and the rocker cover vent both go to the oil catch tank. you dont want the fumes going back into the induction system for best performance
