Outstanding video and presentation. I have a 68, 71, 79, 80, 79 & 80 Limited edition plus a 68 MGC GT. Yes I'm a MG Hoarder. :) All are completely restored with the exception of the 80, 80 Limited Edition. My current project is 50 % complete on the MGC GT.

The centre box is fine, but the rear box needs to be a "bomb" type to increase flow (and sport noise)

In this case, the owner wanted it to sound stock. Usually I’m installing something a bit “sportier” on most cars. I do have a video on installing the Tourist Trophy system, which is what most of my customers end up choosing 👍🏻

So there are 6 studs (3 and three), six( brass maybe) nuts... My question what is the size of the nuts, I'm thinking 9/16... but I don't know.

What do you think about putting a heat deflector above the exhaust system to prevent toasting the drivers legs? This would be in addition to putting dynamat or something similar inside the cockpit.

I don’t think the MGB really needs it. Being in business nearly 20 years and restoring and servicing mostly B’s I’ve never added one, and never had a customer complain about toasting their legs in one, even a modified one. As long as you have carpet in it, it’s insulated enough to not be necessary

Yea was worried about that as well on my 79 B. But my exhaust system hangs about 3” to 4” below the floorboard. So I’ve never felt any heat. I really don’t like it hanging so low. It doesn’t look good and I’m always worried about it hitting a speed bump or what not.

You would think that brass nuts are used on the entire exhaust system...I would have done that on my Sprites....

Will smearing anti-seize on exhaust nuts and bolts reduce chance of freezing up?
@mgbgtguy2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used it on exhaust, but if you do use it they make a height temp anti-seize ( copper color) that’s the one to use. If your talking about using it on the nuts for the manifold connection brass nuts are the way to go

I enjoy your videos. I want to buy an MG but am afraid it will not be reliable for everyday driving.

If an MGB is maintained correctly it can be surprisingly reliable ( as reliable as anything from the time period can be expected to be) but more modern cars are still more reliable than classics are. The biggest reliability problem I find with them is the people that have worked on them in the past. Once sorted the biggest issue is the sometimes spotty parts quality these days.
