Great job.

You’re always the go-to channel for a great informative video when I need help!! My question: My 80 MGB has a persistent gas odor in the trunk. There is no escapement of fumes or hissing from the gas cap so I’m assuming my issue is the reverse of yours! I have replaced the hoses and gas filler tube as well as the gas tank but still the problem continues. Any suggestions? Thx!

@brucefraser5363 what type of fuel pump do you have? The original equipment version was installed in the trunk. And they have air pressure relief hoses. Could be you have a diaphragm going out on the fuel pump. And it is off gassing into the trunk

@@AlexPlatacis Good suggestion! The fuel pump could well be the original as it’s the conventional one in the usual place. It might well be time for a new pump. I’ve no problem putting in a new one. Is there a way to test it?

@brucefraser5363 hmm... idk. Curious how it turns out

@@AlexPlatacis I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime I took the carpet out of “ye olde boote” then I took the felt underlay out as well, and scrubbed the floor thoroughly with a sudsy mix to see if it was maybe a residual odor from some past event. At the moment things are good but only time will tell. You would have laughed if you’d seen me and my 3 MG buddies all lined up at the back of the car with their noses stuck in the trunk to discern the whereabouts of a potential vapor aroma!!🤣 Thx again!

nice work .... but why not just replace with a good rubber tubing?

I imagine the design was intended to be overly safe as the line traverses under the car where road hazards and heat might tear a rubber line.
