Nice idea using steam for really stuck pistons. I always used air but your approach is worth remembering. Thanks!

I know right???? I don't have an air compressor. It broke a few years ago (ok, it caught on fire...I should have made a video) and I never got around to buying another one. To be honest with you, I was really surprised the steam worked. Thank you so much for your comment. Cheers, Bob

Oh no! Red (high strength Locktite) is permanent. I made a mistake of applying some and I could not get the bolts back out. Maybe heating them with a torch might do it. I like your presentation of your MGB restoration. Good idea on using steam. My calipers have been stuck for 20 years, I may do just what you did.

Thank you very much for the comment. I know what you mean about the "RED". I really don't plan on ever taking these apart again, however, in the past I have heated stuff up and ended up breaking the bolts loose. Soon I will have the video about the cross member done and posted. I have been working on it for about 2 months. Nothing but dirt and crud and rust. Maybe once I get the body painted it will all seem worth while....stay tuned. Cheers, Bob

Nice video, did you use new stainless steel pistons? Parts $ next video I presume. Another piston removal desperate method is to adapt to a grease gun. Hydraulic pressure safer than air more control. Did you know POR15 is not UV. Safe from fading? As a restoration I would topcoat a cast iron grey color. But you do you. Thanks for the vids

Thank you for your comment. No, I did not use stainless pistons. I figure, they didn't use them in the factory and the ones that were in there lasted 60 years so I just went with the $10 pistons. As far as the cost, It ended up costing $133.46. I detail the cost in the video of the rebuild of the front cross member and suspension, part 11. Still editing. Again, thank you for your interest. I am starting the body work now. I may do a video of a walk around of the shell. Stay tuned, more to come. Cheers, Bob

Did you try to hit the caliper with compressed air first?
