It's time for a bit of a styling change with the #MGB and as the plan has never been to go standard with the car I've got some #Sebring valances to fit to it

You did the right thing. Sebring cars look awesome!!!! It doesn’t matter if it is a mk1. You can always change it back

Recently discovered your videos. I've enjoy a few MGBs since the 70s and I'm now working on a 1972 MGB/GT project. I am inspired!

That's really weird. I hated it right up until you stuck the number plate on at which point it looked proper. The brain is a strange thing !

I know what you mean, it looks like somethings missing then the number plate just finishes off the job

I've been restoring Classics for 50 years, panel appears to fit ok but I would have painted the panel body coloured and bonded fixings to the back and fixed from the back, I'm 10:14 just starting a rubber bumpered car

Love the suggestion, I took my front valance fitting off a friends car, David Russell Wilks, you may of seen his KZbin channel. His front panel is made of aluminium and is bolted on the same as mine. I kind of like the corse look, and the yellow front I think just complements the green car. It's a more do it my own way bit of styling, and I'm really happy with the results 👍

Hi Steve. Looks great, currently on with a similar conversion. Chrome bumper at moment but Sebring front has just arrived. I'll probably leave the rear standard. Just after a bit of advice on your Paint work as looks fab. Primer , then paint or etch primer then paint. Rattlecan? Mine is probably similar to yours i.e fibreglass. Thanks Paul.
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I just did mine by first keying the fibreglass panel lightly with wet and dry, then primer a few good layers, then wet and dry until smooth. Then top coat, but a few layers of top coat and wet and dry through the coats, then last lacquer it, it seems to have worked well. Cheers Steve

Cheers Grace, it'll just be front and rear valances, I just want to do it as a mild sebring look 👍

Steve, returning to yellow, one panel at a time! Sticking a license number to your paint work seems such an unusual thing to do. I know historically it is accurate, just seems strange. Is it modern practice as well?
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Well it’s legal to do, as it’s a historic vehicle so 40 year rule in the U.K. comes into place. The rules recently changed so anything over 40 years old the rules are a little more relaxed on, so long as it’s roadworthy, ie tyres brakes etc are ok then things like historically accurate number plates on the bonnet are allowed. As for the yellow, that’ll be the only panel in yellow, I’ve seen race MGBs in green with the front valiant yellow and I just really like the look 👍🏻

Hi guys , can you convert the rubber bumper Mgb gt to have same front / back bumpers as Sebring ?
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 5 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s possible, but you need to cut parts of the front off that hold the heavy original rubber bumpers

Hi Steve. It looks great ! Measure twice drill once.....l 've lost count of the amount of times that hasn't worked !! l could easily make those rusty sections for you but we do have a distance problem ! The problem l do see however is the sebrings had extended wheel arches but l guess there are limits. I always did like the look of those valances . Look forward to the next instalment.
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Only the MGCs Sebrings had flared wheel arches, the MGB didn't have them (not in period correct anyway), although many people still fit them. That would be great if you could repair a few panel for me, however like you said the distance

I think I've seen these Sebring parts on an MGB GT before, is there a rear one too? I'm not totally taken with it, though the rolling shots do look good, anyhow good video all the same mate 👍

@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, yeah there a rear one to fit as well, that'll be in a future video, once I've finished the front end. I think it's like marmite really, your either going to like it or not

Steve I like what you have done. What is your long term plan for the GT?
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Robert, the car continue with development. It needs a bit of welding, some tidying up with the paintwork, and then I'll be looking at getting some more out of the engine 👍

I think it’s “marmite”, now can I have your old bits for my basket case of a GT 😂. I do like the sound of mgb’s, has yours got a sporty exhaust or is it standard?
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, the old parts are most likely to just be stored in case I ever want to go back. As for the exhaust, its a MGOC free flow sports exhaust with twin tail pipes, I did a video of it not so long ago 👍

Sure looks good. Did you happen to weigh the bumper/valence to see the weight savings?
@SteveDentonClassics
@SteveDentonClassics 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, I afraid I didn't, but on a guess it's either 1/3 or 1/4 of the weight of the heavy front bumper 👍
