What is your take on the reliability of your MGL EFIS? Have you had any problems with it? thanks in advance, best regards.

During the install I had issues with the coolant sensor connection on the RDAC unit, and I simply could not get the coolant temperature to display on the unit. I found MGL less than helpful in this regard with them eventually replying to my 4th email saying the coolant input on RDAC does not work and you need to use the user configurable AUX1 input for the coolant. I found this a bit slack, since its even shown in the install manuals... About a year later I had a dashed line appear across the lower quarter of the display from left to right constantly. I contacted MGL in this regards and they told me the display was faulty and I needed to send the unit back to have display replaced at a cost of $100 as the display is not a warrantee item. Again this was really annoying, so I didnt send it back, leaving it as is for now. Either I will replace it myself or eventually replace the entire unit with a Garmin.

@@NicHolmes thanks for the reply. I have the uAvionix AV-30 that only gives me trouble after one year using it. LCD fading out. the barometric pressure keeps jumping around when I am turning the knob to set altimeter pressure and their service is almost nonexistent, when they respond it's always with arrogance and unrealistic assumptions. When I was designing my panel I thought I was going to install this MGL. The LCD is a little bigger and the visual interface looks good. But after knowing what needed to have it working the price lost me. Thinking about replacing my AV-30 the idea of having the MGL came back to me. I decided to ask people using it to find out that not too many people have it. I don't see MGL selling many units. The reviews on aircraft spruce are few and old. That's a bad sign. The manufacturing looks like it's one guy located in South Africa. The price is really high. The manual is confusing, not updated.... I will go with Garmin G5 after my quick search. Now, the G5 is beating all these units I mentioned in price as well. Thanks again. Best regards. Lewis

I notice as you fly that your airplane is trimmed, what do you use to trim the plane? Flaps, Trim tab? Thanks

I use the flaps to trim for level

Do you find it too small? Im thinking if byuing one but just now I realised how little the screen is to have all this info displayed. Im thinking of having this efis as primary instrument and just a analog altimeter and air speed as backup. What do you think?

So this is my primary with an altimeter and ASI on the co pilot side as backup. Yes the screen is rather small but it's surprisingly decent and doesn't feel cluttered and cramped. I would have loved to go to next model up, but at 2.8 times more just for a bigger display essentially I couldn't warrant it
