Engineering sectors like chemical and mechanical are highly conservative, changes are not easily accepted but priority is given on safety and proven technology only. Syllabus does not change frequently. Now NPTEL has started online courses in engineering and other subjects where a student can listen and see the lecture or lab demo or how to use the equipment on social media site like KZbin instead of travelling to the brick wall classroom. Need a good evaluator of the students grasping of the key concepts in a subject nothing more. Instead of pen and paper closed book exam, now one can hard quiz, assigments to be done in team or individually which can be emailed, online presentations, online exam. Primary job in academic is not research but teaching and evaluating the understanding of the student in each subject. Primary job in manufacturing and design industries is also not research but to complete design project on time or to ensure plant produces the chemical at required daily rate and purity and at the same time keep confidentiality of information. Natural human intelligence cannot be replaced totally by artifcial intellifence even after keeping a record on all the possible ways humans have reacted to a problem uptil now.
