Original 1M owner here. I've been using MHD since it first came out in 2015 and I've experimented with both stock tunes in the app and also custom tunes. I'm currently on a stage 2 custom tune from Wedge Performance. When you get a custom tune done by a reputable source, the value level skyrockets as they are able to analyze your charts and see where they can make a difference. The custom tune I am running from Wedge also allows the M button to still operate properly whereas some other tunes will completely disable that. I have quite a few more mods on my car: LW titanium exhaust, AR downpipes, Forge intercooler + diverter valves, ER charge pipe to name a few. The 1M continues to be better than me, which is exciting; you're always learning it and that's what makes it fresh even after almost 10 years.

The way the power comes on an the wheel spin in second when you’re trying to roll into it and it just lets loose is wild to watch your guises faces... I’m sure the owner coming from a v10 to the in-line 6 with twins is gonna be much happier with the power, once he gets the better tires.

I’ve got a 1m fbo with ess tune… wheel spin all day every day with 1st and 2nd gear. My car boost is max 15psi.. so not high at all 0-100 time is not reflective of this cars power and driving experience. 100-200 would be good to do Also, take it on a track and enjoy what it truly shines at.. I’m thinking about changing to mhd though
@ZeroTo60Tube2 жыл бұрын
If you get bored, have a look at some of our other videos. Have become a bit of a N54 channel. MHD Is superior to ESS on these things. in fact, nothing compared on a MSD80 or MSD81. With some awesome upgrades coming to MHD in the near future too.

Crazy, already on 20 psi with MHD stage 2+ OTS!!! 😁 I'm sure of it could put the power down, it'd easily be in the 4's 👍 I wonder what the 100-200k times are 😜 Great video as usual guys.
@RH33C3Gaming4 жыл бұрын
It doesnt make 20psi, it hits 20psi when you let off the acc as theres a delay with the diverter valves they open up so theres a boost surge due to where theyre positioned. My car does exactly the same thing. It makes 18 psi less timing when it exceeds it, there may be timing corrections when it goes over it. Or when a vehicle has higher IAT's itll make more boost and less timing.

I had a look at realOEM.com and the turbos are the same between the 1M and the 135, but the downpipes are definitely different. The turbos between the 135/1M and 335 are slightly different (last digit of the part number) so I think that comes down to packaging. The downpipes between the 135 and 335 are the same. So there may be something to the theory about the 1M downpipes being better than typical N54 downpipes. The 1M has 10% more power so that's 10% more flow (approximately). I guess the normal N54 downpipes weren't up to the task for the 1M. I think MHD has a "boost by gear" function that can set a boost limit for each gear. Might be the first place to look for customizing the tune to reduce wheel spin in low gears. Obviously try the new tires first. bmw.spoolstreet.com/threads/mhd-question.1636/

I'm not sure about E series mhd but for F series you can change the torque per gear to reduce the wheel spin

It would 100% help. But we never warm tyres up before testing them. We time them how they are daily driven. So you if you randomly pulled up next to someone at a set of lights and just happened to have a cheeky little race from the lights, while you had a passenger in the car. Thats the scenario we have replicated since 2016. Unless you are at an organised street race, its very rare you have the opportunity to warm your tyres.
@JerainJezza4 жыл бұрын
It's what I keep telling you :D, 0-100 is not that relevant, it's the 60-120 and 100-200 that counts. :D I keep repeating it but I think the MHD stage 2+ and especially the old V5 E40 if you have access to ethanol is the sweet spot for these cars together with some suspension upgrades and LSD. Once you want to go beyond this point you need a lot more maintenance and performance parts and mostly have a lot more problems with fuel and ignition etc...

Once my car is a little safer to roll the loud pedal on when in the vicinity of other vehicles it will happen. Coilovers have been ordered and once they are in, diff will be next. How does a stage 2+ mhd 1m compare to an equivalent fbo 135i or 335i with an mhd stage 2+ in terms of performance?
@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
A full bolt on car would be making more power. However the rear end in this would probably put the power down better. Rolling the power on at 40kmh this still struggled for grip, so it would be difficult as hell in a 135i or 335i with their small tyres and open diff.

So I put this setting on sports, started the car(without driving)and about 30 mins later have coolant leaking on the floor. Removed the belly panel to check it's location and it looks to be leaking over both sides of my intercooler. Pretty sure it's my water pump leaking based on the location. Is there any chance mhd could have caused my pump to break ? I googled it and did see a few other reports of this. It just seems to coincidental

@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
The best advice i can give is expect to have a few maintenance items. Once you understand that things do wear out on the motors. Really just look for an authentic car, check for accident damage, paintwork, trim wear on the steering wheel, seats, gearknob etc. Mechanical issues will occur with the N54 but they are always fixable. Just be mentally ready for them. Ideally if you can get a folder of receipts showing the money that has been spent on it already, that is awesome, but that doesn't mean you wont have more issues. The N54 powered cars are some of the best value for money BMWs on the market. The engine is simply amazing, but its a high performance engine, they need to be cared for.

If im honest i didnt log this feature so im nut sure how it works,but if you have mhd , then its similar to boost by gear feature and I think I would prefer that over xhp launch control. Xhp launch control feels like it takes your foot of the gas when you reach desired torque. I would need to check if you still get full boost and just abuse gearbox, but I think it just cuts out in ecu like traction control does, soon as it reaches torque soecified in settings. Correct me if Im wrong.
