Question, is it better to bring a poison weapon or Chameleos armor? Wouldn't Chameleos armor negate the wind armor from pushing me back?

I'm not sure of what I'm saying, but I think there are no skills that can negate Kushala Daora black wind. I think the skill given by the chameleos armor negates his normal wind ( not the black one ), it was the case back in 4u. I prefer using insect glaive against Kushala Daora, the element is secondary for me. Poison is for comfort, but you can totally beat him without a poison weapon, and if you fight him with a poison weapon, don't rely too much on poison damage ( I really think poison is not good compared to sleep or para, it does damage yes, but it's kinda MEH damage ( 8 damage per seconds during ~ 1/2 minutes, it's nothing too crazy, even your weapon can do better ) ). The only thing to know is that if you flinch him, you can negate his wind barriers, both regular AND black wind, so if you are good at head sniping, this can be good. GS is actually good against him, specially Striker and maybe Valor, same for hammer. Also, don't forget flash bombs or the fight will be even worse, 4th generation Kushala is particularly annoying, so don't hesitate. To sum up, I don't think both chameleos armor and a poison weapon is needed against kushala daora, even if poison can negate the black wind barrier, but if you think you are not comfortable, go with a poison weapon. You can totally beat him with pure raw in a decent amount of time ( around 15/20 minutes depending on your skills ). The best weapons against kusha are GS ( striker, Valor and Alchemy ), Hammer ( Guild, adept, Valor ) and Insect Glaive ( Guild and Aerial ), and honorable mention to the SnS with striker style, thanks to the oils ( both affinity and stamina, and the chaos oil hunter art ( which is a pain in the butt to get ) ). Other then that, take flash bombs, take advantage from the openings and turn around. And that's it, the rest it's up to you. @@mickaelgoodenough9024 It negates wind pressure indeed, exept one we call "dragon pressure" that is used when you spot either Kushala or Teo(this is maybe an error or indended Idk). Granted the dps isn't high but being agresive enough and he should be dead in 20 minutes(judging by your playstyle not offence). If you are going with poison it would be tedious to get him poisoned if you are not using Dradqueen or any poison based set but it does work. You wouldn't need hot drinks in cold places if you are going to use Chameleos armor.

Bring a high damage or utility set. Break Kushalas' wings. It will DRASTICALLY decrease the amount of time it spends in the air ( or at least it did for me ). When it is on the ground kushala should be mostly harmless if your valor dodge/counter timing is ok. Otherwise just follow the basic hunt loop: hit it-> is it still alive? -> hit again! : D

A yes the thief trickster chameleos, back in freedom unite chameleos can became invisible all the time wether he's in rage mode or not without spraying any mist and and back then he use his bad breath spray to deplet your stamina permanently and you can only recover your stamina using ration, well done steak or any other consumable items that can increase your stamina.

@22:00 "What move is _that?"_ The last thing you see before carting, what else? Can confirm the move dealt _at least_ 123 damage to you -- a super spray from an angry Chameleos CAN often oneshot you. (fun fact: the tickmarks on your HP bar are spaced exactly 5HP apart)

Honestly my first time meeting Chameleos was in 4U last year. Chameleos was a hard as fuck wall to beat without my cat simply because his hitzones are just so shit so I would get a repel over a kill. What's even worse is he's particularly bad for Greatsword, something I wouldn't find out till 5 months later. His height actually helps or makes the fight worse as if he's short you can hit his head and if he's tall, then you can barely reach it. Also if you hate how hard he hits now, I want you to image that your defense is 680 when you fight him instead of 770, he will delete you in the blink of an eye if you fuck up. Was the only time in 4U I used element to actually beat a Monster too and is the only one of 2 monsters in that game I enjoy fighting. Great work on beating him on your first try, he's super bulky and a fun fight. Some counterplay tips -You don't really need anti-thief as his tongue is not hard to dodge. -Fire and Dragon element are his worst enemy so its best to use those. His head and back legs have the most elemental weakness and his back legs in general have the second biggest raw weakness. -His head hitzone gets worse when angry and as you experienced he gets up faster so try to mount him when he is calm. -He takes two hesitant steps before walking forward or charging forward. -Flash bombs to not get him out of invisibility to my knowledge. -Most importantly of all. Like Teo and Kush, Chameleos's horn only breaks when he is at 30% or less HP. The faster you get that horn break the closer you are to slaying him.

Early comment before the video starts but here's a tip against Chammy: When he turns invisible he will go to position in other side of the room. Thing is you can find it just by looking at your character running animation. If it runs deseperately means you are running away from him, but when is normally that means you are running towards him. His charge don't have a hitbox, only his tongue, so you could use this in advantage.

2nd protip: The longer Chameleos stays invisible, the farther away from his previous position he will appear. Because (as you can see after breaking his horn) it takes time for him to fly to that new position.

Fun fact. When you break an Elder Dragons horns in the old games, it means that they are relatively near death.

It depends, before 4/4u, back in mhfu, it depends if you break the horn first or if you cut the tail first. If I remember correctly, there was a damage threshold that allows you to break/cut parts. The first stage is when the Elder Dragon still has 60% of his life points, you can break the horn or cut the tail, the second stage is when the ED has 40% of his life points, and it depends on what your break/cut first, if you already have break his horns, now you can cut his tails, and if you've cut his tail first, now you can break his horns. And the last is when the ED has 20%, I think you can break the wings ( just for kusha and teostra, we can't break chameleos wings ). That damage threshold was really time consuming, specially in solo, since elder dragon fights take 25 minutes and it was difficult to kill them in one fight, it was more like 2 rounds of 25 minutes depending on the ED, and even 3 rounds if you need to break all body parts. They change that with the 4th generation, thanks, it is less time consuming

As always, awesome timing on the longsword valor i-frames. As someone who played the older versions of MH, you attacking from in front of Chameleos gives me anxiety. I usually just attack his hind legs or tail until he topples then unload on his head.

I have slain him since I last commented, so here's another 4 tips. 1. If he slams his tail twice, he will run forward afterwards. 2. If you break his horn before you get the "10 minutes left", you are pretty likely to slay him if you keep your cool. 3. When he does his 1-shot multi-breath bullet-hell, keep FIRMLY pressed against him and rack up damage on his back legs or body or keep far, FAR away. 4. If he is spitting his little globs of poison and you use a blocking weapon, just evade, as even Adept-blocking will just knock you back and hurt your sharpness, due to it having multiple hit-frames and because he will fire enough in quick succession if enraged.

Bring a Poison weapon, use Neset armour with Wind Res High slotted in (the first level isn't sufficient), profit! Chameleos used to be the easiest one for me to handle in Low/High Rank, but in G-Rank he became really hard for me while Teostra was the easiest.

It is possible, but you must be very efficient and take advantage of his openings ( like turn around, wind projection ect ). GS is great against Kusha, same as hammer and insect glaive. The most annoying thing with Kushala Daora is his black wind barrier and the constant flying attacks, flashbombs is a must have against this sucker.

I just fought chameleos in gu for the first time two nights ago. I beat him with 20 seconds left even though i was wailing on him, sadly i got a large silver crown so his head was impossible to hit

Honestly, against chameleos I don't think LS have a great match up. I prefer using DB or SnS, I hit more often, I'm more mobile and I can do status ailment which chameleos is very weak to ( paralysis and sleep ).

@@mickaelgoodenough9024 totally agree with you bro... in my case LS is the only weapon I can use properly... maybe I need sometime to learn the perfect timing not just the moves on other weapons 😺😺😺 I guess I got used to using longsword even though it's not the best weapon to kill monsters like chameleos, but yeah sure I will try other weapons ... LS killed Fatalis I' ve been fighting him just for fun... 😺😺😺 might take awhile though I sucked when I tried DB😺😺😺

Anybody got tips for slaying Chameleos quickly? I can somewhat avoid his 1-shot attacks (From my experience, his straight-ahead breath-cloud can be used as a counter, so if he quickly goes invisible, he's getting ready to disintegrate you (or your loved ones with you as collateral damage) with said breath attack), but I can never kill him quick enough for the game to even repel him. I also keep timing out before he dies... Anyway, I finally repelled him, with his horn breaking (it is fragile but only breaks when he's at 30% health and timeout + 25% health is what repels elder dragons) just as I had 3 minutes on the clock.

Charge blade in GU is very similar to both World and Rise. Just watch Gaijin hunters guide on how to Charge up your phials and you'll be getting guard points in no time.

Nah not really. World and Rise are probably the strongest iterations of charge blade ( not the best for me ), while Gen and GenU is probably the weakest iteration of charge blade: SAED nerfed you really don't want to SAED in GenU except for some elemental CB but it's still pretty weak and less efficient then regular impact phials, no AED or SAED after a successful guard point OR a shield thrust, the impossibility to charge the shield while we are in sword and shield mode, pretty mediocre hunter arts except the savage axe hunter art ( I don't remember the name ). ALL these things have impacted charge blade a LOT in Gen/GenU, even with the strongest styles ( striker, valor and adept ( yeah I love Adept CB ) ) the cb is far from it's true potential in these games, even 4u CB was strongest.

When I fought Kushala I used the True Devil Slicer sword and I equipped my Palicos with poisoned weapons 😺😺😺 He was not that tough for me, even the G4 rank Kushala 😺😺😺 I have managed to kill him solo took me just 19 minutes 😺😺😺
