[MHST2] Critical Hits And Why You Should Scale Them

Today we're talking about critical hits, scaling crits, and why its the most important thing in Monster Hunter Stories 2. We've pretty much started to ignore every skill that CANT crit, aside from water monsters because they have no skills that CAN crit. Also talking about gene templates and critical setups for monsties.

There is actually one Water skill that's able to crit...which ironically is Royal Ludroth's Maximum Rollout.

After building the new astalos and putting in the crit xl, I can tell a big difference, gonna start slotting it into more monsties, thanks for this video, it was sooo informative. I have been wondering alot about different genes and their value. Thanks instant sub. Hope you do more.

Loving the templates! I just noticed on the non element build it states that it has 110 in tech bingo. Also u could get with the same genes 1 more power bingo. Anyway thanks for this info bomb!

This has been very informative and I appreciate your vids! I am curious though, where do you get all your information for what the genes do exactly-- base power, ability to crit, etc.? The actual game has been so ambiguous about this... that I feel like I make a lot of misinformed decisions using only ingame knowledge.

After talking with Tidus, he suggested the Bazel armor (all-out + crit-kin) to my playstyle of doing lots of random SR coop (I just tag on any random coop I see). I saw the all-out skill on my hunter starving me for kinship, but with the Bazel armor + a weak point talisman, it works very very well once you use a super whetstone. The result is: you focus on trying to make your hunter crit, this generates kinship to use for more hunter attacks, and more monstie's debuff attacks or whatever you wanna do with your monstie. Now if I could get a weak point XL and critical XL talisman, I would be set in gold. I already carry lvl30s players in SR right now, it is really fun, I don't even need to do one hth to be able to "do stuff". This is really fun. Crit is really fun to persue! Now you guys are really set on heroics, and with this new tower mod, it make sense. But what are you suggesting to use instead for those who don't like to play with fire (I don't wanna waste a random person's SR ticket and risk it all)

Also Palamutes have a lot of crit, so technically, they are viable monsties, especially the dragon one ;)

Trust me, critical kinship and weakpoint is where it's at. It pairs with Dragon armor which gives Critical XL.

I just want to know, how the hell did you get these values. I'm trying to figure out which skills are trash and which ones are at least somewhat viable. Like health up is basically terrible cause it only give a flat 56 point bonus which is only marginally helpful in pvp but not by much.

Do we know the values on a super whetstone? I know it increases attack and critical chance but I haven't found the exact values anywhere.

Concerning your template, you mention to replace heroics with vicious. QQ: If the monstie uses a skill and wins the hth, does it counts as a hth? Or does it have to be a normal hth (like the slugger skill, which only works from normal speed/tech/power, not the skills equivalents)

it is counted as a hth so both vicious and all-out activate

Pump-up may be slightly better than dragon surge, but consider the following… BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!

If you do Pump Up first, the Defense up from Dragon Surge replaces Defense down

Would you rather have 593 attack with 10 bars of crit or 641 attack with 6 bars of crit?

Well if every 5% of crit is worth 1 bingo bonus and every non-diminished bingo bonus is worth, say, 10%, then 641 attack with 6% crit is probably a lot better than 593 with 10% crit. Especially since crit bonuses are additive so there are plenty of ways to make up for that deficit.

@@meowsquared same thoughts. Rajang and teo still outclass hb and br. Ill still use the latter two since they look cooler to me.
