I have yet to beat this beast and I am a IG user also. In my hunts the beast is never this "nice" to me. He tends to charge to the other side of the map and when I chase him he turns and barrels into me. Also when I am getting up he tends to hit me with lightning or a breath attack. My question is, is having a higher elemental attack power better then the base raw power when fighting this beast?

Hi, why all atk boost and no ice attack? I am struggling with the special assignment solo but I seem to have similar stats to you except I have a frost charm and no attack charm

Unfortunately if I run a frost charm with a latent power build/safi passive set, I can't hit the Attack Boost 4+ with sacrificing a point in evasion window and power prolonger. With this build I hit 100% crit rate without weakness exploit. This weapon is already 390 base ice and I have a point in ice attack to push it to 420. You only need to hit the threshold once to survive his super attack. After he does his super attack, the threshhold resets and the DPS check starts all over again. Since I don't need the extra Ice damage, I trade it for consistency and safety.

never thought about going for legs, with IG maybe this will be the answer to why i'm not containing his element. I've been using the barioth Ig sense i never have ps+ to get safijia gear. With the frost jewels i have 500 ice element, not even sure if this is enough.

Go for beotodus IG it has 600+ and more augment slots for element up giving it around 700+ ice damage I soloed alatreon with it but do break the horns or you will have 1 gurenteered cart

By chance could you explain how you're getting both of the special kinsect buffs at once like that? I've been using IG for a long time and had no idea it was possible.

i can answer that for you, its a skill attached to the glaive itself. Like how most have speed boost, element boos t, blunt boost etc right? The one that gives power and stamina for kinsect is called Spirit and Strength boost. which if not default on certain insect glaives CAN be rolled for to put on the Safi'jiva glaives.

It’s not the glaive specific. You can have that move if you have iceborne

lol i spend all my safi mats to upgrade 2 safi lances and they both end up still with measly element damage. i shoulda just tried IG first smh. i wonder if there is another ig i can use.

For non elemental the Raging Brachy ig is one of the best, and it isn't too bad to farm. For elemental, I'd go Blossomajesty or the Legiana glaive

Hi! My longsword skill the same as yours IG, maybe some better. I used to dragon weapon from alatreon to make elemental check all alatreon stages. And wanna take IG that never used. Is possible to use dragon weapon with dragon behemoth kinsect to make elemental check for low skilled players? With longsword it simple, but IG this hurd.

I've been using alatreons insect and to no avail have I been able to get to that elemental threshold. So I finally came to the conclusion that I need to use what it's weakest to in the first stage, like if it stats with fire active then use an ice element. You gotta break that horn if you wanna keep it to the form it's weakest to, it's a real brain nogging. I'm gonna try and solo it tomorrow with this new method and see if it works.

@@insanelion8288 so I did some testing and I actually got to the threshold with just like 320 ice elemental on a insect glaive and my kinsect ice element along with my palicos weapons, so I just only suggest that you run some part breaker bc destroying those horns are very vital to break to make your hunts easier

​@@RoBoTboY-jt9zi But if you play bad IG a weapon from sabretooth barioth with all ice damage will be close to threshold. This is terrible. For me, longsword, enough 440-460 ice damage and 800-900 dragon to threshold. I wanted learn how use charge blade on alatreon. I have fire critical weapons from Kulve Taroth for ice alatreon on longsword and charge blade. I made identical fire damage build for both (decorationd and skills). And was surprised, that with charge blade I could threshold when Alatreon become dragon (rare in ice stage), but with longsword (my professional weapon) I threshold his power 2 while he was ice and one when he was a dragon. This is hard to play with weapon, that you never used. But IG is the worst weapon for me. I collect red buff around minute and my insect always low on stamina, because I use a lot of time attacks with this insect before flying attacks. It is irritates.

I often could see it while other IG players plays on a letsplay videos, but did not saw about it this in some IG guides. What is this and how you could get it?

I feel like this fight was ment to be solo'd. In MP everyone is scattered and he's bouncing around the map then we wipe because lack of damage on him.

how did you get 80% affinity, without putting affinity on the weapon? Like

Latent Power 3 (30%) + Safi armor passive (20%) + Critical Eye 7 (40%) + safi weapon base affinity (5%) + Attack Boost 7 (5%) Comes out to 100%.

The thresholds go up with more players. This is more solo friendly since the opposite element bug is there to cover for you incase he shifts twice before an ultimate attack and you didnt meet the DPS check (fire form > dragon form > ice form (~you'd be screwed if you didn't have fire element at this point~)). If you're playing in a group, cover their weaknesses and go whatever element they don't have or have everyone go the element that counters his starting form.

@@JoeShimHae The threshold for the elemental shift is low solo. So low that a fire kinsect can cover the elemental dps check alone when he switches to ice. I heard that each horn break will force him to go from dragon to his starting element (Fire in this particular mission).

Nah barioth/velkana weapons are still good alternatives if you need ice. Rath weapons for fire. Run an elemental charm and just learn his attack patterns. This boss is really forgiving with his hit detection. Practice being more aggressive every run.

@@KieronWolf i finally did it! on my 31st attempt i followed your fighting style the best i could, except the hp booster, and took 27min with Glavenus Glaive, i was at 600ele
