Good evening fellas, hope isolation is treating you well.
Working from home has allowed me to grind out some runs, so here's some Gunlance for you all today. I've been practising my knowledge of dunk thresholds for another video so I figured it was time to put it into practice.
Gold Rathian still stands as one of my favourite Iceborne fights so far, the exploitation of the backflip and the sheer amount of damage she can take really helps.
The main trick that let me shave about 29 seconds off of my previous PB was the triple rage fireball. Outside of rage, Goldilocks here just does the plain old triple fire spit, however she'll swap the last fireball for a flip when she gets mad. This will either be a running flip if you're mid to far distance, and she'll land immediately, screwing you out of a dunk. I
f you're close to her, however, she'll usually bust out a static flip, and this gives you enough time to get that one hit to drop her, so learning that has been a real improvement to my fights with her.
Oh and I like the new Wyrmstake opening I've been practising.

Didn't realize you could combo loading the wyrmstake blast into immediately firing it. I've been pulling my hair out trying to think of the fastest setup. Thank you for teaching it to me!!

Raven3557 long is the best for it!

Long is best for charged shelling, wide is best for quick shelling, and Normal is best for full bursting your whole mag in a single shot.

How do you do the long shelling after reloading? I press circle after the reload and my hunter either does nothing or does the normal shelling.

Han Daimond you have to hold circle, and the input window begins around the end of the reload animation, so you have to hit it kinda early

Nice run really! How do you feel about back hops to close distances? I saw you sheathing the weapon but it doesn't feel right to me.

Claudio Naticchioni I’m out of practice with the turnaround attack, into backhop input to close gaps, and it was more important that I was close to Goldian for the triple fireball so she would do the flip that I could dunk. May have to include it more because it’s some really good tech to know.

To start your charge shot, are you doing a poke then charging. Trying to figure out your combo. I'm learning gunlance

Friendly Neighborhood ToFu yeah that’s right, you can do a single shell then press and hold the button again for a charged shell, poke and hold shell, or even do the run in thrust, hold shell in the middle, and these are all ways to begin your charged shell combo. To do the 45 degree poke you just hold guard whilst you poke, hope this helps!

SSJDioBrando it really is just a case of being familiar with the monster. If you know their movement and attack animations, you’ll be able to predict where their head or target hitzone is going to land accordingly !

E.D Man that’s the Wyrmstake Blast, that’s done by loading your slinger ammo into the Gunlance and sticking it to the monster !

chad summers absolutely. This doesn’t really benefit long however as it doesn’t do melee attacks. Therefore, Zorah allows me to put in a lot of QoL skills since the damage is already maxxed with the optimal Long playstyle.

What attack multipliers affect shelling?

Artillery, and the food skill felyne bombardier. Magazine (capacity boost) has an indirect effect on damage, as with long it allows you to keep your combo going longer before reloading.

@@michaellopez9711 For Long GL only, since you do nothing but charged shells. You still want the other damage boosting skills like crit eye, crit boost and agitator for Normal and Wide, since melee hits will be part of their best combo.

Late but razor sharp because shelling eats sharpness and slinger capacity makes the wyrmstake stay on the monster longer

People (newbs) don't get how powerful Gunce can be. I tell em about the defense bypass, i show em my numbers... they still thing GS is "slow." This shit is one of the flashiest weapons in the game, and when used right, a single Gunlance is all you need to kill 99% of the series's toughest monster safely.
