I'm a Gunlance user and honestly, you inspire me further to try out Lance someday. Prior to watching this video, I was already told that Lance requires the most skill to use. The other being the horn.

Loving your videos and learning a lot! I play lance with friends often and am working on fleshing out a build. Do you think offensive guard is worth having in MP? also would you say the raging brachy is better or worse than the safi blast lance?

Offensive Guard is one of the best tools Lance has in maintaining offense on Lance, in my opinion. Paired with Guard V, you're safe in 95% of all circumstances. Raging Brachy lance is good on a Master's Touch/Agi Secret build, but I prefer Safi Blast with a Teo Essence so I can slot both Master's Touch as well as a three piece of Safi armor for Spiritvein

@@loganlarocque4353 I actually run attack VI/V and sharpness V/V, but you only need sharpness V/IV for purple. I got lucky with a roll and got 10 extra hits for when I miss attacks, lmao. for Safi set bonus, I would almost always recommend using a health augment on your weapons, or just in general. It's an incredibly useful augment to have, makes you need to heal less so you can focus on the monster more.

How do you clutch claw without sheathing lance? All I can do with lance drawn is counter claw. Playing on PC.

If you have a PS3/4 controller, you hold L2 and then press R3. Otherwise you'll have to look into the training arena/CC tutorial for the buttons as they'll be different with PC bindings.

Just watched this again because I tried using this weapon against Raging Brachydios but man do I suck. Though it is my 2nd time using the lance. The first time was against MR Diablos at the Special Arena. Edit: 2nd time using the lance, not the gunlance since the GL was already my main. Sorry about that.

It is definitely rough until you've built up some experience, as Raging Brachydios (and Furious Rajang) are high-tier in terms of difficulty. Once you can manage them, you'll have little trouble with the other monsters of their caliber outside of learning their attacks. Cera's video should be able to give you some pointers for GL: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHTIZGmdoMiifqs However, if you are having trouble with a particular attack or phase with Lance, I can help out.

@@KCGemini thanks. BTW, I am just curious but you can block the RB's punches normally and then counter. In my case when I block it with counter block, my character is pushed back and won't counter anymore. Is it because I need the guard skill? What's at least the minimum needed to be able to use it well? I used the Brachydios Lance by the way. Initially I was using the GL. TBH: I turned out to be using the Lance just fine myself. The maneuverability of Lance greatly surpasses that of the GL and I was utilizing the guard dash + dash thrust (or whatever it's called) to move forward easily. Also since I can use its clutch claw + attack to destroy the monsters' body parts easily.

@@KCGemini by the way, sorry for the confusion but it was my 2nd time using the LANCE, not the Gunlance because initially, it was the Gunlance that I was using and I almost mastered the GL. But the maneuverability of it is really the worst.

@@akizaizayoi4763 You should have Guard 5 against it; otherwise, many attacks will have knockback. Even with Guard 5, you'll have to use Advancing Guard / Powerguard during specific attacks to eliminate the knockback. Powerguarding during certain punches and the headbutts can guarantee you a good chunk of damage if you stay on the offensive. Tenderizing and focusing on one arm (typically its right arm) can quickly build up a lot of damage, especially if chained with claggers.

@@KCGemini thanks for the tip! But sorry to ask but what are those? I mean power guarding? Is it the guard where your character crouches further while in counter attack guard mode? Kinda sucks that as GL/Lance users, we need more decorations slot and sacrificing charms as well. The meta of MH sucks. Remind me of Yu-Gi-Oh a lot. Also, your thoughts on fast sheath? I initially had it for my GL and kept it for my Lance build. It was really helpful for a GL user like me since there are many attacks that I needed to really get out where the shield is pretty useless.

Is there a hitbox/guarding mechanic i'm being obvlivious to, or is this just mh being weird? Sorry for the interrogatory lol. @@HelliOnurb Your first comment was right. The slime is considered a 360° attack and it can be guarded as long as your shield is up in any direction. I don't mind questions though. I'm glad to help out!
