Solution: You have to replace the fingerpint sensor. On xiaomi phones, the fingerprint sensor it's simply glued on the power button, and it has a separate flex cable that is conected to the motherboard. Due to repeatly pressing the power button, the flex cable eventually rips off. You can't just replace the flex cable, you have to buy a new fingerprint sensor and it just comes with it attached.

this video is one year old and yet today 24/11/2023 it happend to me too! Xiaomi 11 Lite 4g with MIUI 14.0 suddenly missing fingerprint and "Unknown Fod sensor type" message shown in kernel details. This is so bad i can't even use some apps anymore which require fingerprints !! Any solution ?? I don't think it's a hardware problem because my phone never dropped and the powerbutton iteslf works perfectly, i believe it's a software issue maybe some updates

Update: after two days my finger print sensor which was totally dead now works for a few hours than it disappears again and re appair after a few more horurs 😂 this is totally random very very very bad xiaomi i now believe is a hardware fault probably poor quality flat cable
