The first part of this video from our fall protection training course, shows various fall scenarios that will cause fall arrest equipment to fail. These include rolling out gates on snaphooks, and carabineers.
In the second half, we created various fall scenarios and performed live drop tests, and drop tests of a mannequin in situations that we predicted would cause injury or death to a a person. The test mass/person dropped anywhere from 1 foot up to 12 feet. We tested lanyards, energy absorbers, self retracting devices, horizontal life lines and vertical life lines.
