I am between SP 4.0 and SP 8.0 . I am going to use this with my older mother with muscle weakness. 4.0 has MI range but not autorange? what is the difference how 8.0 is going to speed up the treatment for her?

The sp8.0 automatically increases intensity with the autorange on all channels separately. With the SP4.0 you have to manually increase the intensity to a given range of the machine. The reference of 1 muscle (channel) will give the range for all channels separately. The SP8.0 is more easy to use for your mother and more effective because of mi technology on all separate muscles.

I have an SP4.0 and use it often with 4- 6 of the 2x2 pads down my lumbar spine. Do I need a mi-sensor lead for each port/pad or will one lead act as a master sensor for the SP4 unit?

Hi Andrew, you will only need 1 mi-sensor cable. This cable will indeed act as a master sensor.

Could Mi-Technology be used to activate muscle (calves) for walking?

Yes it can, but.....it depends on what your goal is. It think you are referring to the Mi-action. Physio's are using this for example to learn the client to activate a (calf) muscle by the brain first and that muscle stim helps in the contraction. You can therefor select lots of exercises of the calf that is useful for walking. If you want to integrate in walking, there is a limitation: the relaxation phase. So, you can only use Mi-action for walking like this: stand still with the electrodes on the calf, select a training program (skip or after warm up) and with the first contraction you stand still and increase the intensity to a comfortable level for you. Don't increase to high, you still need to move the foot! Than the relaxation phase starts and at the end it starts beeping (so put the sound on on settings), after the 3rd beep you can start walking and the sensor detects movement and start to send an impulse to the calf, so the calf will contract and you foot will go downwards. You will see that walking will be strange, because you need to overcome the calf contraction. After a couple of seconds the relaxation phase starts again and the calf contraction falls away. With the Mi-action you need to stop and wait for the beeps again and starts walking. So, you walk a couple of seconds and stop, walk and stop, etc... But these methods are very specific rehab methods. I always recommend to keep it simple in exercise first. Use Mi-range on the calf in a sitting position and only try to activate the calf when 3rd beep is finished.

@@CompexAcademy This is gold! I have a lazy calf which should have been treated 10 - 15 years ago. Little late now:-) This need more exposure to medical staff that they know more. I asked for a EMS device but answer was that it will be useless. Maybe we could show that it works?

Hello, I have the SP4 but i dont want to the Mi technology because it’s causing an error with the treatment and readings. How do i turn the Mi scan off?

Hi, that’s is very easy: don’t use the Mi-sensor cable. Use a normal cable and the Mi-functions are off. In de wireless devices you can switch on/of mi functions. In wired devices, inserting the mi-sensor cable automatically activates all Mi-functions in the specific device.

Hello Arno, i recently acquired the SP 6.0 device which has the Mi Scan and Mi Range tech. I decided to start with pain management program cause i feel pain on my shoulder muscle that is upright from my bicep every time i make a push movement. So, i believe i should select the "Chronic Tendinopathy" program (if i am correct). My question is , during the program should i turn on Mi Scan? Mi Range? Both? or none? Thanks for your tutorials so far!

Hi George, the "Chronic Tendinopathy" program is basically TENS, so you only stimulate skin and not muscle. This is for blocking pain sensation in the brain. Therefore is MI-TENS the best option. The other Mi-functions are not useful. But....if your goal is to release some endorphins for pain relief and activate muscle to improve the metabolic processes, I recommend to use "muscle pain" program. I think that's a better option for you. Because you have an injury I recommend to switch off Mi-scan, because you cannot control the testing impulse, which can create pain. But you can leave on Mi-range. Keep in mind that you may not create pain during this program, so you have to feel what's the best intensity. Mi-range can help you with the best intensity but cannot feel the pain, so listen to your body first and than the Mi-range. These programs can be executed as much as you want. I recommend the first 2 weeks 2-3x per day. I hope that this info is helpful for you. Good luck!

What good is having only one MI lead on the wired? How can it scan on another seperate muscle different channels

It can't. You always need to place the Mi-lead on the weakest muscle. Based on that calculation he applies the most comfortable impulse and all functionalities to all channels. So always place the Mi-sensor on the weakest or affected muscle. The Wired device software can only coop with 1 sensor. The advantage of a wireless device is that we included the Mi-sensor in all modules. The technology is better and therefore also more investment.

Hi Sir, I hâve the SP4, and dont understand the mi-scan: should we let the frequence during thé whole hypertrophy session or should we increase it as usual every 3-4 contraction? Thank you for your tutorials!

Hi, the Mi-scan is only for determine the most comfortable impulse and so only active at the beginning of a program. After the scan the impulse is set in the program. Than the program starts. During your session you can try to increase intensity (not frequency, that's fixed in the program). The device tries to motivate you to increase every 3-4 contractions by giving a message. It has nothing to do with MI, it's just a message for support. Try slowly to increase as high as possible after a couple of contractions where the exercise is still in control. Do what feels right for you. I hope it's more clear now. Good luck!
