Completely changes everything! Weights go down by half and everything becomes a big oxygen burner. Ben was the first person I heard suggest contracting muscles against resistance rather than moving or lifting weight close to 10 years ago. I immediately became aware of how far off I'd been and that this was vastly superior. And so much harder! Thanks so much Ben!

Rav if your natural you have to lift heavy period
@nonyobussiness34408 жыл бұрын
show me a small natural that benches four plates on both sides with full range of motion. you cant. Deadlifting is supposed to be heavy period, thats not ego lifting. the only people that bitch about ego lfting are small skinny dudes that think kai greene is natty.

+Muscle4LifeX you've just described a power lifter who likely does not focus on their physique

Ben is literally just saying to learn to lift properly before going heavy. I think everyone can agree with that.
@livefit89368 жыл бұрын
Randy Yeah, but you have to lift heavy - get used to that weight and eventually start repping it out with mind muscle connection..

With such quality and informative content in this video that is available for anyone to watch I still wonder why 99,9% of the people in the gym do everything wrong. Thanks Ben for taking the time trying to educate the people. I've been a bodybuilder for more than 25 years and yet I find your videos very helpful, especially because I learn how to explain in English the fundamentals and mechanics of the sport.

Thanks man! Since I'm using your tips the contraction has been better than ever, my workouts are shoter in duration but much more intense, I'm using less weight and I have way more fun. Today for example I did a nos set with cable flys and dropped it till 5lbs. I couldn't move my arms anymore after the fifth rep, lol. Thanks very much again!

I always tell people use machines when going heavy in the major compound lifts, and for all other exercises, do slow ... and I mean slooooooow contractions with strict form and full motion... the end of the lift is always the hardest. I prefer cables for almost everything outside of Bench, Overhead press, Row, Squat/Leg Press, Deadlift/Rackpull. Then once they have advanced and perfected this discipline.. we then move to power motions with focus on negatives and then advanced version of this is cheat Concentric’s with slow Negatives. (Unless you have a good spotter )Best of all worlds. T.U.T , Pace , Form, Power, Overload 💥 💪🏻💪🏻

It isn't train heavy or train light. it's get stronger through progressive overload, doesn't matter if you increase from 200 pounds 1rpm to 300. or 135x20 to 225x20. same result
@lynks86 жыл бұрын
The importance of increasing weight is because we can't increase reps/sets forever. If you want your effective volume/workload (weight X reps) to continue to go up over time (progressive overload), you have to work on increasing the weight you can use because eventually you'll hit a wall with reps/sets which will lead to diminishing returns, if not _negative_ adaptations (overtraining). According to the most recent literature/studies: In general, for all but very advanced lifters, ~10-20 sets at around 6-12 reps, per muscle group per week is ideal to maximize hypertrophy.

Hey Ben thoughts on pausing in the easy portion of the rep for extremely fast twitch individuals in order to target high threshold motor units?
@danielstjohn6067 жыл бұрын
When talking about extremes of the range, is this in relation to hitting a certain muscle part in all of its areas? For example, when Ben shows shoulders and switching up the angles on them in one of his previous videos....? Thanks.

Btw, youre talking about stopping at the top of a squat is easy, but shouldnt you squeeze your muscles at the top of the movement? In order to do that you kind of have to stop or am I wrong
@mahmoudamarushakur47308 жыл бұрын
Moodiam You can stop, but don't stop at the top (when you standing completely upright). Try to stop and squeeze right before you're completely at the top. Like when doing tricep pushdowns with a rope. If you fully extend downwards it's 'easy' on your tricep, because your elbow joint does the most work. Finishing set without fully extending = more time under tension = more gains. Hope i make any sense

@davidhampton41333 жыл бұрын
If this sounds complicated and doesn't make perfect logical sense you're probably not very bright(although you'd be clueless to that) and are so far off when you train it's hopeless. AS heavy as you can do while using the max momentum and body parts to do a rep is the way to go right?
