After watching mia's vids for a while and seeing the relationship between mia and her mom, I felt the urge to make a good relationship with my mom again (we had a lot of problems and we weren't on good terms with each other ) so I tried my best to forget and forgive and now that we are friends again and we have a much better relationship with each other, I'm so happier than before. I live in Europe and here we almost always have tiles in the bathroom. On the walls and the floor. I thought that was done everywhere in the world. And the correct arrangement of the tiles is not easy, so when I saw the title of the video, I was like: omg, she knows how to do that by herself?! 😆

Yes exactly. We did our own plumbing and everything in our house, except the tiles. Much too difficult for us to get the tile around the curved seat in the shower without professional help 🙈🙈

@@je.1873 they're talking about a wet room though, not just a tiled floor, which really isnt common outside of Europe (especially northern Europe). The whole room is tiled and has a drain in the middle of the floor so the whole room can get wet. That's how most bathrooms are here in Norway too. It makes cleaning so easy. You spray cleaner all over, and then hose down your whole bathroom with the shower.

I’m just not in love with that mirror. I know it was supposed to match the little round table, but now that it’s not there, it looks odd on its own and is too bulky. The fact it’s round means it emphasises the off-centre light and is not great to see yourself when you’re in front of your own sink. A larger, rectangular mirror would have been more aesthetically pleasing and would have fitted better with the rest of the look. Plus, it’s way too thick in front of those taps, so a slimmer fit would also be better (but I know that if you have an idea in mind, it doesn’t always translate as well in reality and once you have bought it, you cannot really go back on your design... Hindsight is easier!) 😬

Eventually you should change the hardware on the cabinet and all the fixtures to black but looks great! Also I loved the leaning towel rack next to the tub. (What did you eventually do with it?) The cabinet with the picture on top looked best next to the shower/ opposing the tub.

It’s really beautiful....the only thing that I would say is that It looks so much more put together when all the fixtures (faucets, showers trim) are the same metal....and I would have had to rewire the light fixture to be centered above the mirror....even if you had to get someone to come in to do it.....but with all that being said....your actual design and color choice and the work you did is great! You always design pretty rooms and it’s fun to see you work with your mother

If you are really bothered by the off center light, you could use a solid bar base so you dont see where the junction box is, but that's minor. That tub is phenomenal! Loved this makeover! My fiancé and I desperately need to redecorate our bathrooms (they're over 30 years old and it shows) but ceramic tiles are SO expensive, these vinyl ones are such a great alternative and look so good.

you could’ve painted the shelves in the same wood finish as the vanity so it’ll match because it’s the only piece of dark wood in the room

This turned out amazing! Good job, Mia! one little comment tho- maybe I'm just an overly cautious person, but I would've redone the drywall and baseboards that had the water damage rather than just painting over it. Extra work (& money), but worth it for the reassurance of knowing there's no black mold growing behind the wall.

Get the seasoning called "Alum" on the spice rack in your local grocery store. It's what's used to give the sour taste to pickles. It's a white powder. Pour a little Alum onto a cotton swab with just a dab of water to make the Alum powder stick to the cotton swab and then dab it on the canker sore (covering the sore completely with the pasty powder) and leave it on there for a few minutes. It will dry the sore in a day or two (two applications--max). It tastes nasty, but it takes away canker sores quickly. It works!

As a designer here are some words of advice for any future projects. 1. Try and keep the metals consistent, currently there's silver, black, and brass. You can mix two but as a rule of thumb two is generally the max. 2. The mirror doesn't really fit the space and would look a lot nicer with a rectangular mirror the same width as the sink unit, with a nice thin wood frame. 3. Hang your curtains higher up on the wall. If you put your curtains higher than the top of the window frame, it gives the illusion of a bigger room, and higher ceilings. You're definitely improving but wanted to give some quick advice :)

The floor tiles (and your installation) are gorgeous!!! It’s such a transformation, combined with the night white wall paint! I love your fur-baby and laughed out loud when he was playing with his “chicken.” I also loved to see how much he was helping throughout the makeover! Lol Mia, you are one in a million and I love to watch and hear your interactions with Mama Maples. You have such a fun and loving relationship. The bathroom is STUNNING….just like a spa!!! WhooWhoo!
