Love that you're back to reacting to MBC! The Revach concert is my favorite (I was nine years old then). They were in middle of switching from the choir style of earlier years to the boy band style of the Yavo era. Yerachmiel is just hyping the crowd up because it was the closing song of the concert and the most popular song of that album. Yoshi actually had some adorable solos at that concert and the three main soloists - Yosef, Shaul, and Ari (the first two are the soloists in this song) - had an amazing medley ballad performance that I hope they post at some point.

Revach is one of their most popular songs, and Shauli Elson (with whom I went to a post-high school gap year program in Israel) and Yosef Schick (who I used to be really good friends with, way back when we were little, in camp) are 2 of their star vocalists from back in the day. Yosef and I were actually in the camp choir together. He was the star soloist there as well, and I always marveled at the purity of his voice. I still remember an original song he composed (called “Az Yashir”) when he was like 6, that he sang and played piano to on talent night one summer. I believe he won that talent show, and deservedly so.

This is arguably the best MBC era! Revach was the title track of that album and super popular. Soloists were Yosef Schick and Shaul Elson, both awesome voices and definitely the stars of that time.

Could be argued which era was best. I would split Miami boys history in 3 eras 1. What I call Miami boys prehistory, Those innocent days 2. Miami’s golden age, Miami experience era, and probably most synonymous with Miami 3. Miami boys reinventing era, starting from the Revach Album, or around this time. To me personally, Miami boys started with Revach, I liked that he started opening his tight americanized circle to a brother range of well known Jewish talent, such as recording most of the music in Israel with the Israeli steady studio musicians and their famous adult choir as well, having Mona and Laufer on the arrangements. That was a fantastic act of collaboration that brought me into the Miami boys choir. To me it was an act of a next level consciousness and next level of connecting with his listeners abroad.

Yoshi was still in the choir even after he left the choir! XD I remember going to a show after he had officially "graduated" from the choir, and he ended up coming out at the end to do a few songs with the choir! He just couldn't leave! Yerachmiel trying to get the crowd involved is somewhat of a meme in MBC lore, having been parodied. This was also the finale of the show. That's why they went so long and he was going so hard to excite the crowd. Awesome reaction, as always!

@YLvids
@YLvids Жыл бұрын
Most people don’t know the Jewish pronunciation of the “ch.” It’s not a ck sound, but it’s also certainly not the sound non-Jews would typically associate with those letters combined. To anyone who didn’t grow up using those letters the way we do, it’s used in words like “teach,” “child,” etc, or just with a silent “h,” like in “character.” A good way to describe the sound it makes when used for Hebrew words is a guttural sound, kinda like the “gh” in “ugh,” or the sound you make when you have post-nasal drip and hawk a loogie.

But I’ve heard him pronounce it correctly many times, so he definitely can do it. Like when he says “challah,” he’s got it down. So, if you’re reading this, Portuguese Pai, almost any time you see the “ch” in a Hebrew or Yiddish word, think “challah,” and you know how to pronounce it. There are no exceptions with Hebrew, and the only exception I can think of in Yiddish (though I don’t really speak Yiddish, so there could be others) would be “chulent,” which is pronounced with the classic “ch” sound. And idk if it’s even really a Yiddish word in origin…

Yes, But he loves music in general and he loves this music in particular, And it's kind of cool that he's genuinely interested in learning about the culture through his appreciation and love of music..... No offense but hes not suggesting that hes doing a post doctoral dissertation on Jewish theology, Because goodness knows that if he was doing that, Trying to study Jewish culture and theology through music is about as efficient as studying American colleges by watching college football games. And so much of this type of performance is just so different that simply focusing on the music almost misses the point. So I think that he has a great balance, having a lot of fun while also learning a lot by asking questions. Please keep in mind that I value your suggestion and I am not trying to belittle you, I just disagree. I hope you enjoy the channel As much as I do.

Hey Minain, I appreciate your comment/suggestion, however I think I will continue making the videos as I have been. As I can understand your view on it being a musical performance, there are clearly cultural aspects included in the music or the performance. So pointing out both things I see makes sense to me. Thanks for taking the time to voice yourself, and hope you enjoy the videos!
