A ride on the Miami-Dade County Metrobus system from Little Havana to Coral Gables. I start off at NW 17th Avenue & Flagler Street, and take the 17 bus to SW 22nd Street, where I transfer to the 24 bus. It costs $2.25 to ride the bus and included a free transfer to a connecting bus. It took a while to come, but I eventually got to my destination.

Miami has a lot of history and in Little Havana still has a lot of historic buildings and houses dating from 1914 to the 1920s and 1930s up to the 1940s and post WW2 buildings and storefronts.

@@ActionKid Bungalows are a typical type of housing in Little Havana that originated in India many years ago, Mediterranean Revival style houses and two story apartment buildings were built by the dozens during the Real Estate building boom of the 1920s just after World War One. They are scattered in many parts of Miami, Coral Gables and Miami Beach and Miami Shores. The style is from the Mediterranean Sea and from the countries that border the Sea like Spain, North Africa, Southern France, and Italy. Mission style houses also are a few and originated in Southern California and New Mexico and Texas. Art Deco architecture is popular in the neighborhood and many apartment buildings and one and two story houses sports that style and originated in Paris, France during the Art Deco Fair in 1925. The Tower theater on Calle Ocho was built in 1926 and designed by Robert Law Weed in the Mediterranean Revival style and remodeled in the Art Deco style in 1931 by him.

Believe me, relying solely or primarily on bus service for public transportion in any city is not good. I love having the MTA subway as the primary public transit service in nyc--so convenient. Watching this vid make me appreciate the MTA subway that much more again. AK, imagine waiting this long in the sweltering heat and humidity of August!

I stumbled across another NYC channel yesterday while AK was doing his live. She was going around Dumbo in Brooklyn. It was bustling, people were going every where. You saw the Brooklyn Bridge, Downtown Manhattan, the lake, all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. It was great. I thought, how this used to be AK, and how he gave all this up to just ride buses with retirees.

Hey there. I lived in Miami for 34 years, grew up there. The bus system is workable, if you live along the feeder lines from let's say the Metro system or the satellite line running south into further south destinations. Now they have the train system and expanded Metro so it should be better. But not all bus lines reach where you want to go, unless, like I said you are on a feeder system. And the night bus system was practically non-existent, and getting from town to the beach and back was problematic. Although the town to beach line was good, at night it disappeared. Nice to see my old neighborhoods. Great food in Little Havana and Little Haiti and the other immigrant communities. Go find them, they are there if you know where to look. Immersion is your best friend in Miami. Language, charm and a little trying will help.

I used to take a lot public transportation in Miami and I leave Hialeah to Miracle Mile by using route 37 South Miami Station and get off on Douglas Road (Southwest 37th Avenue) and Miracle Mile on Saturdays to visit my favorite attractions. There is lot to see and do in Miami but you have to drive here. I would also use the bus to go from Hialeah to Miami Beach many times. Now I use the Lyft to take me anywhere I want to. @@ActionKid Sometimes the Tranist system in Miami is not dependable at all and it won't take you where you want to go. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it takes you to certain places like Hialeah Park and Casino at the Hialeah station, Downtown Miami at Government Center, Brickell at the Brickell station, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens at Vizcaya Station, Coconut Grove at Coconut Grove station and take the City of Miami trolley to the Grove and Miami-Dade tranist bus No. 27. To go to Miami Beach there is the L,H, J and S bus. I would use the L Bus at Hialeah Station to go to Miami Beach and get off anywhere on the Beach to go swimming and sightseeing. Metrorail was approved by voters during the 1972 Decade of Progress bond that was used to build Metrorail, expand the bus service, build a new Cageless Zoo which opened in 1981 on Southwest 152nd street in South Dade that replaced Crandon Park Zoo, a new Downtown Miami Library, a performing Arts Center and to fix old and current infrastructure around Metro-Dade County when it was called that way back then.

Never ever turn your back on a Miami bus. It's taken as a sign you don't really want to ride. It ain't perfect and it requires patience but it does give you a lot of time to study and appreciate the banyan trees on Coral Way. Plus it has a cool free app called "Go Miami-Dade Transit" that allows you to see in real time just how long you're going to have to wait to catch your bus. Sadly, there are no heads-up advice on how to "approach" a bus, re, facing the bus, waving your hands, etc.

@@xoxxobob61 kinda strange for a big city like Miami, if you go to Singapore, HongKong, Tokyo, Barcelona, all German cities, London, Paris, Madrid, Lisboa....all have topnotch public transport....very ideal for tourists, who aren't into driving in a foreign country.

@@DonGivani Yep, it's no coincidence our most walkable cities also attract the most tourists. A lot of cities are taking steps to address walkability but we still got a long way to go

Action Kid, I think that GoGoSupertoe took your NYC KZbins spot over, especially for the NYC Subways. I really like his videos, almost as good as your NYC videos were, when you were there. But, I know that you will be back there in NYC some day.

Walking anywhere in Miami is weird. No one walks anywhere in Miami. You spent 15 minutes waiting at the stop and not a single person walked by. Florida doesn't have a proper public transportation system like NYC, or London, or Toronto. The rents in Florida rose more than any place in the country, and that's causing a worker shortage because the workers can't afford to live near their jobs since the rents have gone up so high. You bashed NYC for this, but it's even worse in Miami. And contrary to popular belief, much of Miami is VERY ghetto. Empty storefronts are plentiful, which was a problem in NYC, but somehow not a problem in Miami?... just saying.

Very true. I never said Miami was a perfect place, it's got a lot of problems as well. When I explore more of the city, I'll be sure to show the empty storefronts and not so glamorous areas too!

I think the city assumes everybody has a car for the most part so there’s not much public transportation it’s far apart from the other. But you were here last year you know that
