Trade or cut smith another Grier bust early round pick. The list just gets bigger. Every year we draft. I would put my house and everything I own I can draft better then Grier if given the shot cus it’s emberrassing at this point. He gets paid to pick busts don’t forget Tindall too. They need to cut Poyer too and Mostert and Wilson and ogbah and Campbell are probably retiring anyways. They need a backup young mobile QB you only get that in the 1st round and need a Saftey / Dline/ TE/ backup LBs and corners/ and of course OL always needs help. I can’t wait to see how they mess this draft up and how many busts they pick this year.

They should make a madden game then for GMs and have people play the draft game and trades and see who did the best at the end of the year and then hire that person to do your draft not some x football player or family friend or some DEI hire. Actually someone who knows college football players and real talent. You draft Tindall just because he played for Georgia. He only started his senior year where somewhat stood out if you make your first start as a senior you should no the drafted early period. Little things man little things. Now they better not pay Phillips cus hes injury prone and wants a bag and if you pay him you can't pay Holland and Holland is the only player Grier drafted I actually wanted and I thought I was dreaming he mad a solid pick for once lol.

Grier must have some kind of dirt on Ross. Their is no way a guy stays GM for 9 years with no playoff wins. I'm serious, it just makes no sense. We have gone through all kinds of coaching changes but this guy just stays GM through it all. Makes no sense.

Maybe it's just rumour but apparently Grier's son had an impact on his father's choice here. Grier's son played a year of college ball with Smith and apparently recommended him for our (choke!) second round pick (which was our top pick out of four for the draft). Rumour or not, Grier definitely has to get his act together when it comes to picking CBs and OL players. Otherwise fire both him and his son for good measure!

Lamm's history has been at LT. Given that and the fact that Tua's right hand blindside puts more pressure on the RT would account for his comparatively worse play at RT. Hopefully Wynn can come in and replace Jones at LG or Lamm at RT if Lamm can't go.

I think it's a bust to say that Cam Smith as a bust doesn't matter a whole lot. Second round picks make up a lot of the players currently in the league. A good pick in the second versus a bad one can make a world of difference to a team particularly in a critical area such as CB. Also consider that Smith was the top pick of our 4 pick 2023 draft. God, how I wish we had picked guard O'Cyrus Torrence instead. Naturally he goes to Buffalo and starts every game last year for the AFC East champ Bills and may have done the same again for this year's version of their division champ squad!!

That would be a rough 'best case' scenario. Not one I would have envisioned for our top pick (out of the four total picks for the entire 2023 draft). But then again, RT Austin Jackson was a long term project as well and totally flipped his nightmares into ploughshares for himself and the team. Those number on Smith from this video are horrific however. And the fact that Fangio spotted this from Smith before he would play a single regular season snap at the position was and remains very troubling. Noah Igbohene had much better numbers than Smith and yet he was a total bust as well.

I agree with your bust labelling of Smith but not the reason why. If Smith can play the spot at the NFL level then he should have come out like gangbusters and shown everybody what a big mistake Fangio made last year. Sure these guys are young and no more so than rookies but they are getting paid obscene amounts of money to do something that guys did basically for pride back in the old days. So I have next to nothing in the ways of sympathy for any player getting their feelings hurt if they happened to get rightly or wrongly snubbed by a coach. I have seen nothing out of Smith that suggests he can play CB at this level with any degree of consistency. Given Fangio's track record and this depressing output from Smith, I would say that Fangio was doing his job by keeping Smith out of the lineups last year. Maybe Smith can put it together next year (assuming he gets a spot). Even if he does get it going next year, that still wouldn't prove Fangio wrong IMO. It would only show that Smith finally woke up!

@ I can see your point and would be possibly apt to agree with you if my thoughts on Fangio’s blame weren’t validated. Remember smith was injured during training. He didn’t get to practice and train for that reason one. In addition coach kept him out of a lot of games that he should have played him. That experience could have helped with development. When coach finally put him in, he was injured worse and couldn’t finish season. Remember muscles need use to grow. Keeping him out didn’t help. When he was finally ready and able to go, he was already to far behind to catch up and ball out. I agree he is a bust but it is more of Vic Fangio’s mismanagement than anyone wants or will admit.
