Why do so many teams use orange as one of their primary colors? the Bears, the Bengals, the Browns, The Broncos, and the Dolphins all use orange as a primary color. What is it about the color orange?

Dolphins primary color is aqua. Orange is a secondary color.

We do wear all white just about every game. Sometimes on Primetime we'll wear aqua. A lot of people thought the aqua on aqua looked really nice.

Hi David - Many thanks for the note! My two cents worth is that if you had to describe to someone unfamiliar with football what the colors of the Miami Dolphins uniform are, a larger number of people would understand "aquamarine and orange" vs "aquamarine and coral". But I do understand that coral is a color and I see that the first recorded use of "coral" as a color was in 1513, so your point is well taken. I think "coral" needs a better public relations team. Are you saying that when the team was formed their official colors were aqua and coral, and then at some point the team changed those colors from aqua and coral to aqua and orange? If so, roughly what year would you say the team made that change? or 2. Are you saying that the team's colors have always been aqua and coral - from 1966 to the present? Hi George - thanks for your comment and I guess what my fellow speakers were trying to do is explain why the team owners decided in 1972 that Miami would wear their white jerseys at home for most games. You can disagree of course - we were just trying to give an explanation of why they did it. And it's a tradition that carries on to this day and I think it's always nice to know where traditions come from. Thanks! Scott

my opinion is its time for change, real change...the newer uniforms look so gay and soft and pretty, thats not what nfl pro football is...the miami heat dont need these colors...my advice is lets go to a very dark blue uniform with shark gray and then you keep some trim of aqua and orange...but its time for some mean tuff looking uniforms!!
