Miami Football - Was 2024 a Disappointment?

Make no mistake, 2024 was an unbelievably fun year for the Hurriicane football program. 10-2, #1 offense in the country. However, losing to Syracuse with the ACC Championship game on the line and a cfp trip (possibly a 3 seed with a win over smu) is most certainly disappointing. Especially with a 21 point lead in said Syracuse game.

It was a disappointment. A miss. We lost 2 games to unranked ACC teams. No "*". 'Cuse ranked BECAUSE they beat UM. At present, Mario: 1 more win, same losses as Manny. Same year 3 overall record as Al Golden. Randy won 9 year 3. His decisions cost us both games (GT going on 4th vs 2 FG's from our great kicker). That 4th down at 'Cuse (put the GD game in Cam's hands)..... Best offense in school history and we dropped 2 games. What do you think we're going to do next season, without that offense and those players? Playing Gators and Notre Dame before conference schedule kicks off. And add a trip to SMU. We are a middling team and I don't believe in curses, but we are stuck.

Yes it's a disappointment!! You knew what your main issues were after game 4 and did not fix it. If your secondary starters are giving up TDs on 3 to 4 plays then put them rookies in.

It's a disappointment simply because of CAM Ward was the best QB played in years and we wasted the season because bad defensive performance for most of the year with the same issues never could figure it out.

Mario had a lot more then Manny, Mark,Al Golden, and still can’t win the ACC, all the money we spent was to go pop tart bowl

It was an improvement in wins but not in on fiels decisions, not with the defense, not with discipline, etc... so yes in the win column but no everywhere else

Increased wins, so thats good, Id say more of the disappointment is how we lost. Defense never got better as the season progressed and adjustments were never made.

I couldn’t wait to see what Cam Ward would do in a Miami uniform, as I was well acquainted with his abilities! At the end of the season opener, I concluded, that Miami could be ranked in the top 4. They absolutely dominated the Florida Gators - and not because the Gators played bad, rather, Miami played exceptionally well - with fire in their belly!! So, am I disappointed at their season?? YES! Miami peaked during that first game. The rest of the season, Miami just seemed to limp along. There’s honestly no excuse, for not making the playoffs!

With what our offense accomplished I would say yes, it was a disappointment. The weak schedule and Ward were why we won 10 games. Without Ward it was a 4 or 5 loss team. With a defense it easily could have been undefeated and going far in the playoffs. Now there is a big question mark at QB and another season of knowing what the team will be like.

It is disappointing knowing how close the Hurricanes was and to go from the possibility of being in a playoff game to the pop tart bowl is a disappointment to me,but 10-2 is a good season, GO CANES

I think being 10-2 is not a disappointment, what were the records before this year. The amazing expensive defensive line didn't step up when it truly matters. They came back from games that they put themselves in a position too lose. Miami's problem was: teaches schemed with quick passes, running wide away from the rush, fast scat backs getting through the line shaking slower linebackers & weak defensively in the back end. Yet, think about it how many teams spent a ton of money on transfers and sucked this year and last year. Cam you get spoiled, thanks God Miami finally is good after so many year of just sucking. Miami had a great offense, good line, good defensive line. Yet, Miami offense was top 10 with a top 60 pass/rush defense. Imagine if Miami had spent the same amount of money on their team like FSU and have their record. Just be happy that Miami is back!

What’s disappointing is our Def was 💩and Mario should’ve made some kind of changes with Lance during the middle of the season But he didn’t. Maybe Mario was a bad hire

I realize it's hard to be #1 and win the Natty and I always said I will be happy when TheU is a ranked respected team and 11 - 2 and most likely Top 10 finish is definitely that ,,,But with a 1 in a lifetime QB and offense and starting 9 - 0 with a easy ACC Schedule to lose to GT n Cuse is a tuff pill to swallow ,,, Canes were so close to playoffs and ACC n Natty Championship 🏆 shot and they blew it when they should have Won both those games imo,,,Kick FGs v GT and Hold a 21pt lead and keep the ball 🏈 in CW hands not a FG and depend on a Weak defense to get the ball back with under 4 to play??? Kind of Disappointing for sure

We have more wins yes but a real voach would be in the CFP with the talent and schedule we had this year. SMU first year in the ACC and they played for the CFP..........

@@hurricane2053 I disagree, SMU had at least 11 players that started and would be considered Vets., all from Mia. plus others. They had the cake schedule while Mia. played some of the best Defenses and Offenses in the nation that were not recognized by the league but stats show. Mia. fell short and could've gotten there with just a few less mistakes, but to blame a coach knowing that players clearly were outmatched by other teams. Many scream fire Dawson last year.... this year is the best offense in the country, now fire Guidry and Cristobal. Smh fans need to get a real perspective and stop acting like spoiled brats. @str8street6 not sure whats to disagree with. SMU is in the cfp and theyve played for an ACC championship the first year being in the acc. We loat to GT they threw the ball 16 tines the entire game and we made no adjustments. Mario went for 3 4th downs i stead of taking rhe points and we lost by 5. 3 fgs equals 9 points. Bad coaching. Also, in the syracuse game we go up by 20 and stop running the ball, knowing I defense was trash. we kicked a fg on 4th goal from the what? 17? and never see the ball again. Terrible coaching decisions cost us both games.

Answer this… hiw does Ohio State team (They are 10-2 like Miami, drop only 2 spots in the rankings after losing to a Michigan team , who’s unranked and can’t complete a forward pass!!! Miami loses by 5 on the road to a ranked 9-3 Syracuse team and drop 6 spots! 😊
