I really believe that Miami needs new linebacker and defensive back coaches . They're out of position , confused on plays and not communicating . I'm not impressed with Mario's friend on the offensive line coach . Running backs aren't getting running lanes opened . Their abilities to break tackles are resulting in positive yards . I’m a gators fan and I follow recruiting and it’s just a tough business especially these days with the NIL you know, but I can remember back quite a while ago Quincy Wilson and Hermon Lane. We’re supposed to come to Gainesville together and obviously we know Dalvin and Lane went to Florida State And seen so many years that for me it’s never safe until they signed the national letter of intent because we’ve even seen a few kids over the last two years try to get out of their letter of intent, it is definitely a crazy roller coaster but you got a love recruiting. I think you guys will be fine because you guys definitely know how to hit the transfer portal and there’s always gonna want kids that wanna play for the University of Miami lotta prestige there.

Some guys who were committed to FSU flipped due to coaching changes even though those changes were warranted. Flips happen due to a lot of factors including coaching changes. All in all kids change their mind all the time and in recruiting they change their minds from one day to the next day.

Yep. You either live by the portal or don't. There can be no consistency when a team puts all of it's eggs in one basket. There aren't enough hours in the day or staff available to evaluate high school and every player in the portal. Especially if guys are transferring out just as quick along with coaching staff turnover. Look at teams that were built primarily with portal players last season and where they are this season. Some of them collapsed. You've got a few teams that have been irrelevant for years, load up on portal kids for a one-year success, then get way worse the following years. That's how coaches get fired. Better sign that extension before the collapse happens.

I think it was sort of an uphill battle to keep him in the first place. He really liked Florida and them finishing "strong" to end the season probably pushed him over the edge. They are definitely paying a lot, but most of the bigger schools are.

Miami needs to win with an all freshman cast in the snowblower bowl. And Miami needs coaches that are laser focused on player development. How you finish games in the 4qtr, November and bowls matters! If they don’t fix it, then it’s 8-4ish every year.

Many fans are questioning marios field goal decision,000 which seems legit, but the real procuring cause of being in that situation was the head butt by george. If you want to point a finger at a single goof among many, look no further. He did the same thing last season. As fa'r as I'm concerned, the onus lies squarly on Marios shoulders for not benching any player for that type of penalty early in the season & establishing some discipline....which doesnt seem to exist. We are no longer the bad boys of 25 yrs ago. How many TDs were called back this year due to a stupid penalty ?? - poor decisions seem to be the norm among the coaching staff. We have 3 & 4 star players who are being coached by 1& 2 star coaches. 13:54

Defensive staff needs an overhaul. Hopefully a new staff is great at evaluating portal players. Secondary was bad and this recruiting class does not address it.

Well Coop, I hate to say this but I am not unhappy to see Chris Brown hit the transfer portal. It especially pains me to say this because we attended the same highschool _ Ft.Lauderdale Dillard. Although I realize he didn't get a hell of a lot of opportunities because of a loaded and talented backfield, however, he did get plenty chances to make his mark on the kickoff unit. Over the course of his two year tenure, can you recall him taking a kickoff to the house? Not only that : This kid seems to be the easiest player on the team to tackle; you touch him and he goes down. I said the same thing about another one of my alumnus _ Jaleel Skinner. When you don't get it done it's time to seek greener pastures someplace else. 😢

We only want players that want to be Canes. Not kids that think they are going to a better situation. The grass is not always greener on the other side. Just because the Gators looked good at the end of the season doesn’t mean next year will be a continuation of that. Look at FSU 13 and 0 one year to crap this year. Miami will continue the upward trend in future years so if they don’t want to be a part of it ok. We do need a new DC however.

I wouldn’t worry about recruiting. Honestly I think the fanbase is over reacting to everything. If you truly step back and look at what this team did. Yes the defense wasn’t good. Did anyone think there was a magic button to fix that in the middle of the season? We knew the secondary was going to be bad. Even with that We held GT to 28 points. GT scored the same amount or more to UGA, Syracuse, UNC, NC State. That is 5 P4 schools they scored 28 or more on. Also, with this bad secondary we faced 5 QB’s in the top 25 for passing yards. So it’s not like we faced the easiest QB’s. For what we have to work with, we did better than we could have hoped. We knew going into this that double digit wins was a successful year. We also knew we would have some shoot outs because the secondary was questionable before damari went out in game 1. Let’s do a deeper dive on the losses. GT game we had 10 drives, only 3 touchdowns and 1 field goal. That means we only scored on 40% of our drives with a 50+ yard money kicker. That same game Miami did get ran on for 271 yards. But that same GT team scored 42 points and ran for 260 yards against one of the best defenses in the nation in UGA. Syracuse game. We had 10 drives again. this time we score on 6 of those drives 1 of them being a field goal. One of those drives also happened to be a fumbles recovered by Syracuse for a TD so the offense cost us 7 points there. So again stop acting like the defense really destroyed us. For as good as this offense was. They left a lot on the field. We said it in the first few weeks. We could have put up more points on UF and other teams. But everyone got caught up in the defense that they forgot the offense was also leaving points on the field. This is not a knock on the offense as much as it is to just show this team is not as bad as people think.
