Just curious because I noticed that some of your squads are christmas trees and others are a lot more subdued and 'traditional' as far as lighting equipement.

yeah they have take homes and our Dept allows for adjustments as long as they approved by our Fleet dept.

Love the vlog. Question: Does MPD not require officers to wear their vests? I am sure its unpleasant with the heat, but I have noticed in a few vlogs that a number of officers on the streets are not vested.

Thanks, yeah its up to the officers discretion whether or not they wear them. Myself I only dawn my vest when Im responding to a hot call or proactively policing an area.

Nice vlog brother! Is the department going to equip you guys with Narcan kits?With a spike in overdoses due to heroin or new market drugs, these kits are life savers!

Unfortunately as of now, there are no plans for us to get Narcan for each individual officer. Since there can be a number of reasons why a person is seizing, we do not have the instruments to identify the exact problem why the person is in the state that they are. Thats why we call Fire Rescue, they are medically trained and have the equipment to handle those situations. Our job is to render aid to try and maintain they victim until fire rescue responds to the scene.

It depends, heavy bulletproof of light bulletproof. Heavy is outside, light is inside.

Not 100% true. There are external carriers in which soft armor can be worn (your everyday patrol vest). It would probably depend on the department but ours allows you to either wear it under your shirt or externally in a carrier. The carrier is the same color as the uniform for us. The "heavy" that your referring to would be a ceramic plate style vest worn by swat operators or by patrol on higher risk calls. Again that would depend on the department but more and more have a higher level vest in the trunk of a patrol vehicle for that officer to use if needed.

The Officer does have to attend if you are challenging the citation. But its not until the end where they have to testify is when they have to show up..

All officers are assigned a vest from the department. Its to their own discretion if they want to wear their vest or not. I personally choose to wear my vest whenever I engage myself in proactive police work. Yeah I am currently assigned to the Social Media Unit. So through out the week, Im managing the platforms, creating content for the other platforms , and shooting/editing the vlog (which i typically shoot on weds).
