Really interesting to see what is considered looting and what isn't in the coming months in the Miami Dade Court systems. Lots of times when looting a Clothing or similar store it is generally frowned upon and illegal but the real grey area comes in when it comes to supermarkets due to people's desperation and lack of foods. Couple of judges in the past have ruled in favor of the defendants pleading that they were simply trying to survive by doing what was necessary since the stores where closed and thus couldn't go out and spend money on food. My personal opinion is that when it comes down to supermarkets it shouldn't be a crime since food,shelter, and water are things humans need to survive especially after a hurricane where many stores are closed for long periods of time. When it comes to looting non essential times as shoes and shirts then it is a crime since that isn't needed to survive after a natural disaster.
