He's the straight man , serious beyond measure and as a result provides a serious HEAT surrounding the show. SO many tv shows and movies would use Miami Vice as a guide to character and show developement. Miami vice had it all, great cast, great writers, great visuals, great music, just great all around. i can honestly say this show influenced my life. It tapped a string on everything i loved. Greatest of all Castillo-centered episodes! Nice that there is so much of “Castillo’s Theme” in it - I have Jan Hammer’s Miami Vice: The Complete Collection, and for some reason Hammer never cut the theme all-by-itself, although it makes a couple of appearances in pieces from other eps. For those of you wondering how Gretzky could “miss” at close range with an automatic weapon, I suggest you watch the rest of this ep. Well worth the time spent! One of the two greatest episodes of the entire show, the other being “Out Where the Buses Don’t Run” (which also contains some great, typically-laconic Castillo scenes, even though he’s not the focus in that one).

These episodes fill in a lot of Castillo’s history, although we never get to know “everything”. I believe this track (at least some remake or variation of it) was also used by WWE in April 2007, the night that John Cena and Shawn Michaels had their near-hourlong match. A terrific highlight reel of their WrestleMania 23 match a few weeks prior aired on the broadcast, but I can't find it anywhere on YT. Source: Peacock (WWE Raw - April 23, 2007) Castillo-centered episodes tend to be the strongest for me when I've done a marathon of this show. This and the Golden Triangle make me think he could have had his own spinoff series, showcasing his time outside America. There's a tense intimacy when he becomes the focus, buoyed by the five-star music that acts like a looming dread and almost foreign seasoning to it.
