One of the best episodes of Miami Vice ever. Cool scene between William Russ and Al Israel.

jan is a musical genius he added such atmosphere to the scenes.

Al Israel was an underrated actor, he was in some of the most iconic movies of his time, yet he never got his big break. He was in Scarface, Carlito's way, Miami Vice, Dangerous Minds, etc. He usually portrays a drug king pin, drug dealer, or a gangster. He was born in New York City in 1935, but he always talks like a Spanish speaker who comes from another country. Sometimes I wonder if he's Puerto Rican, Cuban, or Colombian descent, because no American sounds the way he does in every movie like that.

One of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite Vice episodes. Last night I dug out one of my 25 year old videotapes and watched 'Evan,' 'No One Lives Forever,' and 'Score.' William Russ was electric as Evan. One senses that he had a lot of fun playing the role. Classic lines, classic pathos. Back in the day I had a jacket like that. By the great designer Willie Smith. Bought it before this episode aired, but after I saw this, it became known as my 'Evan jacket.'

Gusman's Vibe (the track playing in this scene) was easily in jan Hammer's top five best tracks for MV IMO. Along with the very suspenseful Colombian Hideout from the Glades episode.

I always wondered if "Scarface" was the inspiration for MV. Always loved this ep because it's got my name as it's title. 8)

He played a Colombian in Scarface just like he played a Colombian in the movie marked for death. Truth is this guy was born in 1935 in New York City, but he doesn't give a description of his ethnic background like most. He probably doesn't want to get annexed or amalgamated like other Hispanic people, which is rare, because most Hispanic people give a description where their parents came from, even if they were born in America.
