One of the best video for brake and bleeding videos. 👍👍 (At the end of the video, now that’s multi tasking, wife in the background talking as your trying to focus on not trying to round of a bolt or rip some skin of your knuckles (wife’s are priceless to be patient to let us get carried away with our hobbies).

Coilovers and Wilwoods were the best upgrades to my NA6. I used to regularly pull a trailer with my race gear in it, and braking was down right frightening on the stock brakes.
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m definitely not a fan of 1.6 brakes. This setup really opened my eyes to what good brakes can be.

Excellent video (as always) - I had not seen the 'suction' bleed method before. It's very neat - much better than the usual pressurising the master cylinder to push the air through.
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
It’s so much easier! And faster. For a cheap tool, I’m surprised more people don’t have them.

SuperMiata just introduced a kit using the same 4 piston Dynalites but using the factory 11" ND Brembo package rotors. Just ordered the setup and it wasn't too expensive either, excited to install and test out in the spring.
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
I’ll likely use 11” ND rotors when these need replacing.

Love this educational video. On my 97 NA Miata I plan on swapping to FlyinMiata (LBBK) little big brake kit on fronts using the VVT 10.6 inch rotors. I will just powder coat the rears to match the fronts.

Nice, I always wonder why wilwoods work on the na/nb. But the nd people seem to go with the stop tech and ap racing kits.
@NappMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Stop tech and AP racing are definitely superior to Wilwood. It’s just a budget thing.

Great video as always! Question, I saw you say swapping pads from hps to the more aggressive dtcs. Is there any problem with changing pads and keeping the rotors? Bought some hps but my rotors have less than 5k miles on them with the old ceramic pads. Thanks in advance! Can't wait for the rest of the kmiata build series!
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Nope! You can do pad swaps as long as the rotor is still in good condition. Track guys who street drive their cars do it pretty regularly. You might want to do a couple bedding passes to wear the pads in but thats it.
@waltgutz79994 жыл бұрын
@@NappMotorsports welp, guess I'm doing a pad change and bedding later😁Thanks!

I don't get it. I have a 1.6, and can lock up the stock brakes. If you can lock up the stock brakes, why would you need more/bigger brakes? What am I missing here? Thanks, and keep up the great work! :-)
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely lock up 1.6 brakes! But on track, you can only do it so many times haha.
@joelavallee30744 жыл бұрын
Larger rotors add greater thermal capacity. If you only street drive your car and especially if it’s NA don’t waste your $ good pads is all you need. The larger rotors will only be noticeable when you mash in the brakes repeatedly on track or very hard driving. The upgraded calipers will help the car stop faster everywhere, but you need to be in an environment/driving at a level where you’ll notice a 5-10ft improvement in stopping distance.

The KMiata is running a set of Bilsteins that have been re-valved by Whitener Racing Shocks. 800# front springs and 600# rears with extended top hats, allstar performance collars, and fatcat motorsports bump stops. I'm planning on getting them re-valved this winter and running a more street oriented spring setup (650F/400R) since this car is a street car now. The wheels are 15x8 Enkei RPF1's, and I believe the offset is ET +28, but I run a 5mm spacer which puts me at ET +23. Tires are 225/45/15 BF Goodrich Rival 1.5s'. The VVT Miata is running Ohlins and has 15x7.5 Konig Hypergram's with an offset of ET +35. Tires are 205/45/15 Yokohoma Advan AO52's. Congrats on the R Package! They're awesome cars right out of the box!

Great tech. Where are you sourcing the used parts?
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
There’s a shocking amount of Miata owners in Rochester, and a shop that has some Miata race cars, so the parts are a-plenty. A good source would be Facebook groups or forums though if you don’t have many nearby.
@NGWrenchin4 жыл бұрын
Where did you source the calipers and adaptors? Looking to upgrade my brakes over winter as well and have been looking at Flyin Miatas Little Big Brake kit, but if I can source the parts individually and save some cash I'd like that option as well.
@NappMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
I got them used from a guy who got them from a local race shop, I just repainted the calipers from flaking off red to black. Chikara Motorsports sells the adapter similar to what I have, and you can get the caliper right from Wilwood. Might be a tiny bit cheaper, but definitely more effort. Stay tuned for the rears, you might like the option.
