I've watched a few of these motive bleeder videos as I'm getting ready to try it myself for the first time. I appreciate your explanation of what happens when brake fluid absorbs air over time and why you need to change it. Also really liked the step-by-step instructions - very helpful. Excellent video!!

My brother and I will be doing this job on our NA within a couple of weeks. Your video will be a GREAT help. I hope we can find the correct cap for our Miata.

Thanks so much. Done the same, I also suggest the viewers to bleed the Clutch fluid out. It's located underneath you just attach the drain hose to the plastic drain nozzle (located right where the transmission tunnel starts underneath the car).

What about doing the clutch as the same time as the brakes with the power bleeder?

Thanks for your MX5 fluid change video's. Is it necessary to bleed and exchange the fluid for the clutch at this time?

The owner says it's all part of the same fluid system, he doesn't recall a bleed nipple on the clutch master cylinder though.

I am getting some conflicting info based on the forums and the motive website. They both claim the proper adapter is the #1118. What made you decide on the #0108 adapter? No issues with pressure leaks that made you have to re pressurize the pump?
@JetFuelOnly4 жыл бұрын
No issues. Remember I bought that adapter for my Cadillac and it locked on perfectly on the Miata. Maybe it wasn’t meant for it but worked well
@tomizhou81372 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately adapter #1108 does not fit my ND1 - huge leak around adapter when I tried to pressurize the bleeder to 15 psi. There're suggestions for using adapter #1118 for NDs from various sources though. Great video, except that the adapter number is very likely wrong.

Hey, I know your comment is old but did you figure out which adapter you needed to bleed your ND1 brakes using the Motive bleeder? Do I need the 1118?

I got a question:- if somehow my new mastercylinder is installed and I suppose it has some air, would this process help to eliminate air from the master too while bleeding for the 4 tires ?? I don't mind adding and losing more brake fluid to use, to ensure zero air.
@JetFuelOnly6 ай бұрын
No, the process needs to be done no matter what but your master cylinder has very special bleeding procedures. You will definitely want to look at other videos for that. The bleeder tool could be helpful though.

The catch bottle has to have fluid already in it at the start of the bleeding process and throughout while using this? Or can you start with a completely empty catch bottle?

I believe there’s supposed to be a little at the bottom to minimize chance of air being sucked back up but doesn’t really make sense to me.

One question. Autoparts only have brake pads for 2016-2020 but I have the 2021 miata. Is that an omision error on their system or is it really true that pads from 2020 won’t fit my 2021?
@deebee3901 Жыл бұрын
Three questions. (1) Do you need to disconnect the negative battery or ABS module prior to bleeding? (3) Should you let off the handbrake if you have an electronic hand brake? (3) How do you clean the pressure bleeder afterwards?
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
1. No, 2. not sure probably no handbrake on, 3: degreaser and water let fry thoroughly. Instructions in the box will tell you.

Generally the rule is to start with the wheel farthest from the brake fluid reservoir. Then move closer. I don't know where it is on the F31.

What about the ABS unit?
@JetFuelOnly2 жыл бұрын
My next bleed video (on the Porsche in a couple weeks) will talk about that but what it comes down to is don’t worry about it unless you’ve worked on the system ahead of the ABS unit, had excessive fluid loss, or after normal bleed your brake pedal still doesn’t feel like it should.
