Thank you! I'm looking at doing this in the next few days (but on a Miata based Locost). Thank you especially for, 1: showing the part number and for the seal and 2: clearly explaining what to avoid doing when re-inserting the axel.

Al, you f*ing genius, was at it for about an hour and the biggest tip you helped out with was the slide hammer method and greasing the hell out of that little ring. Thank you again for these vids! Each one has saved me some how some way

My pleasure, slide hammer is so easy

Thank you for making this video. I was replacing an axle and for the life of me couldn’t get it to go in. This video definitely helped.

hello A+ racing, I have a quick question. After putting the axle back into place and tightening the suspension together, there is a little play in the axle (its move back and forward if i pull and push on it) is that okay?

Mazda oem seal came with grease in the groove, otherwise it could still leak

I see you are good at fixing cars, but do you know anything about hunting Buffalo?
@aracing3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never hunted a Buffalo with a Miata. I guess I could, I’ll look into it. I don’t know if it counts but I’ve taken squirrels with success. Deer seam to slide right over the top and run away. Let me know if that answers your question. Thanks for watching my videos.

Hello Al, I found this video on 5/3/22 and I like your straight to it techniques and you have a sense of humor too :p My Miata has some type of Drivetrain Vibration and I did post a video of the vibration noise link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5CXlqmOa66Le6s Hopefully you will be willing to share your knowledge, so I may determine how to resolve this problem. I recently went for a ride about 30 miles noted vibration while driving at speeds from 25 mph to 60 mph. I lifted and supported the car under the front and rear lower control arms to be fully weighted and run the car in 1st. gear without the tires /wheels. I did this to try to determine if the vibration is a drivetrain issue. I think the vibration might be: Worn U-Joint(s) or Differential Pinion Bearing? I think the drive shaft is in good condition. I did note a slight seepage from both differential axle seals and I will replace them and maybe the pinion seal, once I can determine which components are causing the vibration. The differential oil 70W-90 was replaced and No metal particles were present. The car has only been driven about 200 miles since the oil change. My Miata is a NA8 M Edition 5 Speed MT MF Date 11/94 Driven 73,00 miles. It has the Torsen Type 1 LSD according to the info I found at: www.miata.net/garage/diffguide/ My differential has a Steel pinion damper and stub shafts, instead of a rubber damper mentioned in the article. Some mention removing the damper? Any advice would be appreciated Thank You.

Thank you Al for another great video. I recently did diff bushings and should have done these seals when I was in there. There are two little puddles of diff oil on my garage and muffler. I smelled some burning diff oil but assumed it was just drips burning off the diff during my test drive - opps. One question... when inserting the axles you said you can hurt the diff. Would it get hurt during inserting the axles? Or would it slowly get hurt after driving with badly installed axles? Both of my axles just popped into place when I had the clip facing upwards and gave a good push from the hub/upright. Didn't hear any weird noises or anything during test drive either. Thank you for the part #!

Yeah I have seen them mess up the axle or side gears. Sounds like you did it right.

Al, I got my axle seal swap complete. One of the seals was missing the thin spring that goes around that inner circle part. Is this something to worry about? Is it living inside my diff until the diff chews it to bits?
@aracing2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry to much about it till you have to if you ever even have to.
@t32prod.982 жыл бұрын
so i would be careful mine was missing that inner spring and i just sent it. my diff has been leaking since so I’m finally getting around to replacing that seal this weekend.
