MX5 DIFF BUSHING UPGRADE / AXLE SEAL INSTALL : MX5 TURBO BUILD pt 31

Diff upgrades, today I'm installing upgraded diff bushings, new side (axle seals), making the diff and diff rear housing friends again.
As well as fitting it all in a new subframe.
Diff bush upgrades are great even for an mx5 that isn't pushing huge power.
i personally ran 70a bushings for years in my standard mx5 and it made the car feel great.
When removing the axles or changing diffs always change your side / axle seals or else they will leak i can guarantee.

Just did this job yesterday and had no problem taking a deadblow hammer to get them seated. It only took a few hits. Use wood up under the arm so it isn't moving everywhere.

I found with the softer bushes they will tap in with a hammer no problem but these bushes i found a lot stiffer and had to press them in

Great video mate. Was there no need to modify the lower diff bracket (i.e. burning the factory rubber off)? The bushing seems thicker than the mazda ones. Or is it upside down and you should have burned the rubber bumps from the bracket?

How would you compare the 70 poly diffs vs the harder ones? In terms of drivability, noise and vibrations

ill be honest i cant really comment as i have not driven the car since the install. however the difference between the standard bushings and the soft poly bushings was huge, no difference in noise or vibration but the diff didn't slap around any where near as much, much better road feel

do you need to reinstall the diff stops ? or can you run it without

i would highly recommend installing the stop bushes, they add a lot of strength and support, if not the stud on the subframe is prone to snapping
