Thanks for the cameo! I got to admit, the lens and camera perform really well. Viltrox has really brought their A game with these lenses. It is crazy impressive. The clicker aperture is a nice touch and the focus transition is nice too. It is a winner, nice review.

I have the same…33mm 1.4 my favorite aperture🤤🤤 No wonder, allot of brands don't wanna make a 1.4 lenses for APC-S because they know, you can get the best out of it!

Thank you, Clare! 33mm makes it basically a 50mm (33x1.5=49.5) full-frame equivalent field of view. So I guess it's kind of a standard prime. It can do it all. I'm really hoping to review the 56 1.4 they make. (56x1.5=84) That lens could be amazing for portraits!

Thanks for the great review! The chromatic aberration in the high contrast was really bad. I was surprised in the real world shooting that it didn't seem to show up.

I think that is just a typical byproduct of really fast apertures. That $1500 Fujifilm f/1.0 lens has it really bad. The Nikon noct f/0.95 is about the only ultra fast lens that doesn’t have it from what I understand. Of course it costs $7999! The good news is, if you shoot in light that could be described as beautiful, in other words soft light, it doesn’t show up much if any. Thank you, Stephen! I really enjoyed putting this one together.

Thanks for the video, I am looking at this and 23mm Viltrox for my Fuji and both are really good lenses especially for the price, however that CA is something that to me makes the lens looks cheap so I try always to avoid it. It is not a big problem in reality, but when you see it once it is difficult not to see it everywhere. :)

You would be surprised how many lenses, even high dollar ones have chromatic aberration wide open.

@@PhilThach I am aware of this, Fuji owners (fanboys, shhh) are famous for being religious about Fujinon lenses, especially the old 23 f1.4 and 35 f1.4 saying that they have some magical properties (without exaggeration), however I tested them both and found that they are just marginally better than both Viltrox lenses, if any. So this is basically my OCD more than the lenses. :)

Thank you great review. I am looking to upgrade from my 16-50 on my Zfc not sure if I should go with the 50 or 23.. lots to think about but you can't beat the price compared to Nikon Z lens .

Nice...since I've got a Z5 as well as a Z50, my choice would be to go with the full frame guys. I do have the Viltrox, 85mm f1.8 and it does a great job...not noticed any fringing or aberration but I've not pushed it either.

Nice lens! I found your channel through the video you did about Nikon Z fc. I've recently ordered it and waiting for it to arrive, so doing some last-minute research to make sure I made the right choice between it and Sony 6400. Do you use your Z fc a lot for video? Has it ever overheated?

That's true. If you have the 16-50 kit lens, you have these 23 and 33mm focal lengths covered, but not at a wide aperture like f/1.4. So, if you are working in low light situations or you need a really bokehfied background. These lenses may still be worth a look. Thanks for watching, Hassan! :)

It will fit and it will work but the Z6II will go into DX mode which is very low resolution on the Z6 and Z6II. The Z6II is around 10 megapixels in DX mode.

I would think you could use this lens in those situations, you might need to stop it down a little bit.

Gosh! There is hardly any focus breathing when the lens try to acquire focus on you from focusing on the lens!
