Ask any police officer working in Harlem during the era, ESPECIALLY the guys in Emergency Squad 2, and they’ll tell you Harlem, particularly the 3-4 Precinct was JUMPING. For Ray Ruiz, the jumpiness of the era resulted in a shootout. Fortunately, he & his then rookie partner survived, one of the suspects did not. The real tragedy in all of this? Not the dead shooter. Ray didn’t get to bring his daughter to Sesame Place which he was slated to do the next day.
