My favorite part of producing radio and listening to podcasts over the years has been playing "Guess how far the person talking is sitting from the microphone". A very great video.

Great video Dan. Have a feeling that this will be in people's minds when they listen to podcasts afterwards, and be more able to hear the nuances.

I just bought my first mic for doing voiceovers for my videos. This video and several of your others have a lot of good advice for getting started. Thanks!

Thanks Dan. I'm just setting up my podcast equipment and had no idea how to speak into my condenser microphone. This was great.

Something was instantly bugging me about this video and it took me two minutes to see it: The stone brick wallpaper background is upside-down!

I was very distracted looking at the wall... then I read your comment and YES! Thats it! Oh boy... "You had one job"

Great job on this. Thanks for showing yourself from the side. Looking straight on it looks like you're a lot further away.

Great videos. Would you be able to make a video about using the mixer? I imagine it may have to be a bit lengthier than the rest, but no doubt it would be worth it. Thank you.

Hey Dan, I'm going to do some on-video podcasting and have just purchased the Rode NT-USB and the RODE PSA1 Studio Arm. My questions: 1. What's the best placement (its kinda weird cause the RODE NT is a kinda odd configuration)? 2. Should I come from the side or up-over from back of my computer? Thanks

Very interesting video. How far away when using a Shotgun Mic?

Dan, your backdrop is hanging upside down. Not kidding, the shadows are aimed up as if the sun were below the horizon.

Think you put the wallpaper on upside down

Thanks, Dan. Great info. I know the point here is mic technique, but it would have been educational to hear how you'd work with a condenser mic, too. Also, after my third viewing…I think your shirt is fighting the brick wall a bit. Maybe ask Hattie to help next time. ;-)
