He was on 25k a week in championship and that is too salary even for 2023 standard in the championship never mind when Micah played. He was making 100k a week in 2005. That is a lot a lot of money. It’s equivalent of 200-250k week in PL right now. He was one of the best paid players in the league.

To be fair to Micah, he dealt with the money really well. Look at the amount of footballers who’ve gone broke or have to go back into actual jobs because of how much money they’ve spent. I remember when Shearer signed for Newcastle for a world record fee and signed a 35k a week deal. I think it was like 10k more than anyone had ever earned in the PL. Then Ravanelli signed for Middlesborough for 40k and everyone thought it was absolute madness. I disagree with Roy Keane. Micah did burst onto the scene as a defender. It matters not in which position you specialise in. If you're a cut about the rest and setting the bar ever so high for others to emulate, then the athlete has the right to say that he or she did in fact, burst onto the scene. And then it went downhill from there. Yet Micah never really discusses what really is that led to his career being finished or trodden on.
