Yeah that's one of the worst decisions in the history of Football if that quote is true but at the time, signing overseas players was seen as a risk and was easier to play it safe with the British players, this was before Arsenal and specifically Wenger changed the narrative when they won the Double in '98

Had many seasons where Newcastle were doing mid and Blackburn would have been the same If it wasn't for his goals. Put berkamp rvp behind him and hes easily in the 300+ prem goal record. Put a 20 year old shearer in the Man city squad and he's chalking goal after goal. People forget, Alan usually would get 1 or 2 chances at max to score a goal and he would Normally take it. Not like today.
