I’ve listened to so many versions of this song. Each artist is incredibly talented and gives their own interpretation but for me...Aaron is powerful but he’s too confident. He sings that song like he knows no woman in her right mind is going to resist what he’s offering. (He’s not wrong like) Jeremy is adorable and charming, but his version is just so...comfortable. He’s joking and flirting and being his usual adorkable self, but it doesn’t feel genuine to the situation the character is in. Michael nails the desperation and anxiety of this proposal. He pauses in places making you feel like he really is coming up with this on the spot. He stutters. He stumbles. He’s not always in control. Which lends an authenticity the others lack. I love Ben’s (F not P)vibrato and the way he doesn’t make a face of fake an accent on the country song line and there’s another one (Price) I think who does a great version as well. They are each noteworthy for different reasons but I’d say this one is truest to character and situation.

Check out the cast recordings of shows he's been in. Hunchback has some AWESOME vocals. I love his rendition of Heaven's Light. He adds a whole new child-like innocence to Out There that Tom Hulce missed, despite his lighter voice. Obviously, there's Made Of Stone too. But I haven't seen anyone talking about his background bit in A Place Of Miracles

Michael actually TRIED to make an album about a decade ago but couldn't raise the funds for it. I remember he made a Kickstarter for it but only raised about a fifth of what he would have needed to cover the costs.

Although I didnt think his singing was as clear, i thought this was the most conversational attempt. He is an amazing actor and filled in those moments between notes with ease. I would have to say what really got me was the opt to speak the last line. I think the last line having a break is really effective music telling, and then you have him who brings so much more with that one choice. I really love all the different approaches and I love how they all work. Its the same situation but different thinking, confidence, and intent.

I just watched Michael Arden's, Jeremy Jourdan's, and Aaron Tveit's rendition of this song. I think everyone brings out a different character of the song; Arden's deep emotional attachment to Sam, Jourdan's fantasizing the adventure to be had during the 'Run' and Tveit's cocky persuasion that ends with a desperate need to be anywhere but there. Personally, my favourite is Tveit's as Ive heard it the most and i think it sits true with the character(conman). However everyone's rendition is really great! This is a wonderful song!

Sorry, but this amazing performer proves that this song is not well written for voice. Not even he can sing it comfortably. The range is too wide and the melody line gets too jagged, with that sudden unnatural unsingable higher note. No one will ever sing songs like these really well. And then there's the clumsy modulation which makes things even more rough to sing.
