I met a retired stuntman at his trucking office in 1981. He was a stuntman in 21 of Wayne's films with photos on the wall to prove it. He said "Mr Wayne" was a very kind and generous man to everyone. When out for dinner he always picked up the check. When filming in Mexico he took over the little towns they filmed in. It meant a lot to the people in these towns that worked on the films.

Caine’s memoir is one of the best books ever about Hollywood, he arrived at just the right time when the old studio system was ending and a new group of actors, like him, were coming in. So he saw the best of both worlds.

It's funny how Michael describes Jane Russell as " getting on a bit" when he met her because I reckon she would have been in her mid-40s at that time. Now, moving on to the present time.
