SO WHY DO BLACK LIVES MATTER? Excuse my French here because I not so good at writing. Remember the phrase "Power to the People" and "Say it Loud: I'm Black and I'm Proud". I think watching something and experiencing it is different: I don't think the average Black person has experienced employment discrimination or housing discrimination or police brutality. Many have but not most. I am angry because I feel I have experienced all (except police brutality) and because I have gone thru it I feel that I look at it differently than someone who hasn't. So when I hear people say "Say it Loud! I'm Black and I'm Proud" it may have had one type of urgency for one set of Blacks and a different urgency for others. But "say it loud" was telling people to take action and "say it loud". I don't feel the same about Black Lives Matter and I will explain. The organization has no doubt done a lot of good across the world and certainly stimulated a discussion that needs to happen. Due to the interruption by RONA, I feel the positive efforts will take longer to achieve than they would have without the effects of RONA. But the world of the 2000's are much different than the sixties. Saying "Black Lives Matter" is like saying "your shirt is green" because it just states the obvious but it doesn't call me to action. "Fire Derek Chauvin" and that calls me to action. Or "Support the Firing of Chauvin" and that calls me to action. So just about every Black person knows that "Black Lives Matter" because Blacks pretty much know who Blacks are. Yes, there could be one or two Black people who have the mindset that there is no such thing as Black people, but those people are almost extinct. So the message "BLACK LIVES MATTER" could be for white people. ( I don't mean to be comical). So whoever you are, looking at things negatively or positively, if you are white, then you know FOR SURE that Black Lives Matter. "Black Lives Matter" because for the most part during our daily lives we are bombarded with images of a Black President Obama; Black athletes, teachers, scientists, lawyers, politicians, plumbers, blue collar and white collar workers, doctors, dentists, reporters, TV commercials; these Black people in these positions are important to our survival as a human race. So who does not know Black Lives Matter? We need action, not validation. I am sick of discussing the same shit over and over that has not stopped since 1960. We need to stop begging and start demanding specific personnel changes in the decision making process. Research, identify, and target. No validation needed. We don't need no stinkin' validation! G.
