Blood Covenant: The Story of the "Mafia Prince" Who Publicly Quit the Mob and Lived
here: - amzn.to/2KefHAK
---
In this clip, Michael Franzese opens up about gambling and betting being tied in with the mob, and he explained that in the 1970s and 80s he was dealing with pro athletes and team employees across the country. Michael added that they would run up big debts in the hundreds of thousands, which would lead to him approaching them to pay off the debt. When they couldn't, they would be threatened with the option of shaving points or being hurt. He also explained how referees were in on manipulating games, which you can hear more about above.

It’s typically more the officiating that’s rigged but yea, you’ll still see players and coaches tip it off at times. The league is typically in on it too. They’re the cover in most cases because legally, games CAN be rigged so long as it’s the league instructing employees. Because they’re an entertainment business, they don’t legally have to present a fair game. They even tell you that in the fine print.

@@joeljuarezrip He broke Omerta by cooperating with the feds but he never actually ratted on anyone. This isn't like the movies - if he ever did rat on anyone they would have him testify on trial and mafia trials were really public in the 80s - he never testified against anyone to my knowledge. That being said - even if he did rat. You gotta look out for yourself first especially after he had a moment with his boss Carmine Persico where he feared for his life and was told by a third party that his own father threw him under the bus when Persico thought that Franzese was not kicking up his share. At that point - you realize this life isn't loyal at any moment someone can end your life because they are jealous of the money you make and feel like you're not cutting them in on it or at any moment someone else can rat on you. By all means go ahead and Rat, if it means saving your own life. That being said - I do not condone what Sammy Gravano did - the man literally coerced Gotti into allowing him to kill his own competition so that he can better himself and then rats on Gotti despite him being the one that masterminded most of those murders.
