@@CRoadwarrior Sir, if he has gone through the scholarly process of understanding the Hebrew, Greek, and other literary texts of biblical passages, you have to disprove what he’s saying. And that isn’t saying it’s pure speculation. The Lord of hosts has the answers. Why don’t you try to get it from the One who wrote the Bible maybe? Just a thought 🤷🏾♂️

@ItsDJNoName you are correct! I can not understand why those with 'denominationalitis' cannot think for themselves, but prefer to be an accuser of the brethren and help Satan in his work. At the extreme, they are SDA's, JW's, Mormons- even Muslims or some other cult. The only thing that matters is the Gospel and one's relationship to God.

He had a PhD, doesn't mean he is 100% correct. He has many flaws in his interpretations. One of them is he believes the angels co created with God rather than the Trinity . Because humans make mistakes.

@@tiedyehobo Can you show me where he says the angels create?
@DiGi37710 ай бұрын
@Just4kiks . He is referring to Gen 1. Dr Heiser discusses this in the Unseen realm book. While the declaration to create man has plurality 'let us" the actual creative act is performed in the singular. If it's the trinity referenced why revert to the singular? Heiser argues that the Babel story also shows God & His divine council as God says "let us go down & see" Gen 11:5-7. The text implies God is talking to other heavenly beings - the ones He created to form the divine council.

Thanks for posting this. I find some of the vehement comments in strange juxtaposition. Michael makes it pretty clear the ideas presented are "not his own" but a compilation of ideas presented since antiquity. Listening to this lecture, the listener needs to approach this like a court case: The prosecution will have one interpretation and the defense will have another interpretation from the same source documents. The jury is going to have to make a decision on which of these two interpretations is true. That is a fair struggle that all of us have to do in every aspect of life - including what we believe about some theological position. IT'S UP TO US, don't get lazy, get busy, START LOOKING IN SCRIPTURE to see what is the case YOU HAVE for what you believe about any theological position. YOU NEED TO OWN THAT. It's our responsibility to seek, sift and then decide.

Did Paul have the ‘free will’ to leave the Christian faith? He could say , ‘No, I will not follow,’? He in fact had said that as he held the murderers’ garments as they stoned Stephen. Then Jesus said, ‘I will show you what you will suffer for me’, and then did. Our freedom is a game we play with God. We are children playing with matches in a gunpowder factory. Our freedom is to wallow in our own self righteousness and rail against God right up to the point where He slaps us to earth with a blinding blow and then after he has our attention strips us of our pretenses of freedom and replaces it with love and instruction.

Great question, the Bible never states a human being's soul enters another person (apart from the Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit should never be confused with soul. However, when doing a word search regarding soul/spirit, the writers of the (Hebrew) Bible used both terms interchangeably, "context is king", as Dr. Heiser always said.

Dr Heiser seems to believe that our choice is determinative of our salvation. That it is the key to our salvation. Predestination counsels against that conclusion as does Jesus in Matthew 7. The reason it matters is, if we think that way we then believe we can make a choice that can change God’s choice that was made before we were made. We have liberty to choose, God has power to ignore our choice.
@vsartale4 ай бұрын
Dr. Heiser does not believe salvation is determined by one's own choice. He teaches and believed God motivates the person, additionally he taught we have free will to reject the Gospel or even leaving the Christian faith altogether.

Great question... A prophecy is received by dream, vision or direct contact from God or one of His loyal Spiritual Beings going to the person. That person has the "free will" to either pronounce the prophetic message or not. I should also mention, this is different than seeking a prophecy by human means, like seeking a medium or some other spiritual practice, which is also a "free will" decision. Hope this provides some perspective.

Let me see if I understand your query. God as the creator of time knows the beginning to the end of a thing. But our perspective of the sky over thousands of years changes with the wobble of the Earth and the minute changes in the path of the Earth's orbit, the Moon's orbit, and other factors. We don't know if the sky we see today is anything close to the sky before the Fall of Man. Adam and Eve probably never saw a star as the Earth was probably covered by a sphere of ice that broke up during the Flood of Noah.

That's an interesting take and a little disappointing to me. Ever since I was a young man I always understood the Genesis 1 account of waters being separated with a firmament to mean that what we call "space" is actually a body of water and not a vacuum. There have recently also been numerous videos of rockets that have been sent into earth orbit seemingly looking like they're splashing along a surface of water. There are also peculiar effects of stars that seem to glisten as if they are in water. FYI, the word firmament means a void or a space between. Genesis 1: 6 - 9 6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

@vsartale7 ай бұрын
The text doesn't say how they knew, it was only after speaking with them, they perceived to be divine beings. Once the 2 visitors performed a apparent supernatural demonstration of power, we can conclude they were divine beings. It seems to me, after the supernatural event the 2 visitors weren't bothered again, regardless of the peeps motivation.

Matthew encrypted.....???connected to Daniel 12.4 "..shut up the words, and seal the book...knowledge shall be increased" AND Daniel 12.9 ...words would be "closed and sealed" until the time of the end....maybe meaning "encrypted" until the time of the end. And your topic/lecture is part of many parts of "knowledge" being "increased" as we see the events of our times herald in the return of our Lord.

It is amazing how people blindly followed some of the wild things Heiser taught. Especially egregious is how he tried to argue that Paul had in mind this medical and foolish idea of a woman's hair having to do with "testicles." LOL. Pure and utter nonsense. Heiser was speculating beyond belief, and too many people just let him get away with that. Paul was NOT writing a medical text, and he was not speaking medically, so Paul could not have had that word in mind from a medical perspective. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Heiser should have taken a hermeneutics class in his life.
@vsartale8 ай бұрын
@CRoadwarrior It wasn't his idea, he quotes from the minority view from scholars who wrote prior to his parsing. Obviously, no-one has to except the minority view, Heiser doesn't claim it's a medical text. However the cultural context regarding women's biological processes, as weird as it was, can still extrapolated from the text.
@CRoadwarrior8 ай бұрын
@@vsartale I am well aware of where he got that stuff. But Paul was not thinking medically according to the context. So importing that medical nonsense into Paul's writing is pure nonsense. That is my point.
@vsartale8 ай бұрын
@@CRoadwarrior Well we aren't going to agree with how we view the text, which is fine. I'm ok, with being in the minority camp.
@CRoadwarrior8 ай бұрын
@@vsartale No one should be "fine" with misreading the text or distorting it based on importing inaccurate lexical information into the text that the author did not have in mind. That is nonsense and that's not how to properly interpret the Bible. Heiser was wrong to use that information, and wrong to use non-canonical information to interpret the Bible. It is a crying shame that so many have been deceived by Heiser's claims, and that so many blindly accepted them. The fact that you even posted this from Heiser shows you are another blind follower of his. I'm not. I know he's off, off on the alleged "divine council," off on how he totally misreads Psalm 82, off on how he distorted Deuteronomy 32 and 4, and off on how he tried to link Psalm 89 with Psalm 82. But no one could convince him otherwise, and therein lies part of his problem. He thought too much of himself and his ideas, although most of his claims could be easily refuted because he simply did not know how to properly interpret the Bible. Centuries of scholarship was ignored by Heiser, and he came up with flawed and heretical teachings that many evangelicals swallowed whole. I'm glad many are not realizing his errors and are writing books and doing videos exposing the flaws in his theories.
@vsartale8 ай бұрын
@@CRoadwarriorfor me it isn't a misreading, it has been shown to be theological coherent. Again people don't have to read or think precisely what Dr. Heiser, and others teach regarding this approach to Scripture. I do appreciate your thinking, thoughts and comments, they're well received.

Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Not sure Dr Heiser understands ‘predestination’, ‘ordained’ or perhaps ‘elect’. The scriptures are thick with these terms alway in reference to God’s choice, not man’s. As time passes I am more convinced that the Biblical concept of God choosing those to whom he gives eternal life is repugnant to men because it ultimately makes clear to whom all power and authority belong. We have freedom but not power to overwhelm God’s sovereignty. If God chooses us we will go, if He chooses not us, we are at liberty to storm the gates of heaven but we will not prevail. With what liberty I have I choose God. With all authority God judges my choice.

Just because he HAD a PhD doesn't mean he is 100% correct. Like he believes in an angelic co creation rather than the Trinity creation. US and OUR in genesis. And the tower of Babel. After the people were split up by 70 different languages . Nimrod's name is now 69 other names . Nimrod is the Hebrew language name. So what are the names in the other languages? Gilgamesh, Osiris, etc. Like I said, just because one has a PhD doesn't mean they are 100% right.

Dr. Heiser does not claim, ever, that angel's co-created with Yahweh. They were present but did zero creating, remember his let's get pizza analogy. Dr. Heiser also never claims that Nimrod now has 69 different names. Other people groups may have had a name for Nimrod in their own native language, but that doesn't equate to your comment "69 other names". A great resource is The Dictionary of Deity's and Demons, a work Dr. Heiser a recommended numerous times. Almost forgot, another useful dictionary he references is The East Face of the Helicon.

Nice of you to ignore OT translation of election. OT clearly states that the nation of Israel was chosen by God. How is it that they all happen to turn away from him and God so happens to gives the entire nation into the hands of their enemies including the Ark and the land He gave them 😂 Calvinist Predestination makes no sense
