Loved your reaction to MJ. He is the GOAT of all time. He was mesmerizing, captivating, his body a fluid flow of grace, flexibility, reflecting each beat of the music. One of his backup dancers said that even if you were deaf, you could see the music in Michael's body. You remarked that even if he was in the back row dancing you could pick him out as special. I used to think that being a backup dancer to Michael would be the best and worst job ever. Best because you have the privilege of working with him and he only picked the cream of the crop of talent, but worst because hardly anyone would actually watch you because they couldn't tear their eyes away from Michael. Good job guys. Looking forward to you doing more Michael. Would love you doing the video version of Stranger in Moscow.

"Beat It" has been cited as one of the most successful, recognized, awarded and celebrated songs in the history of popular music. Rolling stones inducted "Beat it" in The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, It was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that shaped Rock and Roll. The video (short movie in MJ's words) was ranked by Rolling Stone as the No. 1 video, in both their critic's and reader's poll. The video was later inducted into the Music Video Producer's Hall of Fame.

Eddie Van Halen has said that Quincy Jones (the producer) and MJ called him up and said hey come down to the studio we need a guitar solo for a song. At first he thinks its a joke. But he goes down. Listens to the tracks theyve completed. Cranks out the solo in 30 minutes. And Quincy Jones pays him with a six pack of beer.

In addition to around 80 genuine gang members, this video, which is noted for opening up many job opportunities for dancers in the US, also featured 18 professional dancers and four breakdancers and cost MJ around $150,000 of his own money after CBS refused to finance it. MJ wanted to promote peace on “Beat It” video Michael Jackson famously played the peacemaker on the “Beat It” music video when he intervened in a knife fight with a dance. According to the video director Bob Girald, Michael came up with the idea to cast the rivaling gangs Crips & Bloods on the video. In a recent interview with Boards published on Michael’s website, Girald revealed that he proposed the idea of two men engaging in a switchblade knife fight with their hands tied together, a scene inspired by a true story he heard in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey. Michael sat well with the idea and convinced the LAPD to allow Crips & Bloods to the video shoot as a way of promoting peace. “Michael liked my idea and decided he was going to include the Crips and Bloods, which I thought was insane. If you see the video, you’ll see guys that look like the real deal because they are the real deal,” Girald said of the gang members, who can be seen surrounding and watching MJ’s Choreography dancers because they couldn’t dance themselves. Girald added: “It was Michael. He went out and he got ’em through, I guess, the LAPD’s gang squad and he convinced them that, with enough police presence, this would be a smart and charitable thing to do; get them there to like each other and hang with each other for two days doing the video. I didn’t like the idea because it was hard enough to direct actors and dancers, let alone hoods.”

Hey guys! Michael actually intently studied Fred Astaire , Fossey, the Nicolas brothers and Gene Kelly amongst other dancers. A long list of vocalists were his influences as well, he had a great eye and ear- he recognised top talent in others and incorporated all this into his own style.

The Rascals (initially known as The Young Rascals) was an American rock band, formed in Garfield, New Jersey, United States, in 1965. Between 1966 and 1968 the New Jersey act reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 with nine singles, including the #1s "Good Lovin'" (1966), "Groovin'" (1967), and "People Got to Be Free" (1968), as well as big radio hits such as the much-covered "How Can I Be Sure." I wish you guys react to "Real Thing" and "Groovin'"

The story goes that there were real gang members in this video
@ProofCare
@ProofCare 3 жыл бұрын
It's not a mere story rather a fact! The director(Bob Giraldi) himself has confirmed this. Here is an excerpt from his interview : Q: How did you cast the real gang members? It was Michael. He went out and he got 'em through, I guess, the LAPD's gang squad and he convinced them that, with enough police presence, this would be a smart and charitable meu ip thing to do; get them there to like each other and hang with each other for two days doing the video. I didn't like the idea because it was hard enough to direct actors and dancers, let alone hoods. Q : What impact has "Beat It" and working with Michael Jackson had on your career? I met a man who I have total respect for. One of the most interesting things he ever said to me, I'll never forget, we were arguing, he said to me in that very high-pitched voice of his, 'You use the F-word to much'. That always stuck with me. I thought that was smart to say at a time like that. I watched a man dance better than anyone I'd ever seen in my life and I watched a man talk softly and carry a tremendously big stick, get what he wanted and get his way. And as we know now 25 years later, perhaps he got his way too much. But nonetheless, I watched him get his way but always using the softest, quietest approach you could possibly have used. I was influenced not only by his talent, but by his personality.

if you liked the guitar solo just look up Eddie Van Halen. React to his live Eruption guitar solo. MJ really came onto the music video scene with this song, although he grew up as the youngest of five brothers who made up the 70's soul group called the Jackson 5.

I've always said that, as a HUGE fan of dancing and as a dancer myself (Back in the day I was off the chain y'all!) nobody in history, IN HISTORY, moved their body better or looked better dancing than Michael Jackson. He might not have been a classically trained ballet dancer or tap dancer or gymnast, but nobody ever moved to the rhythm or the beat as well as MJ did. His energy, his grace, agility, and timing were probably things that he never ever had to discuss. Why? Because his body seemed to just move perfectly with each. You'll never see him dance off beat or make an uncalculated off move. Nobody in dance history moved their entire bodies better than Michael Jackson.
