With Thriller Album, Michael Jackson was the first black artist to have videos aired on MTV and that helped other black music artists to gain mainstream recognition. The popularity of his videos, such as "Beat It" and "Billie Jean", helped to place the young channel "on the map" and MTV's focus shifted in favor of pop and R&B. Michael Jackson transformed the medium of music videos/short films into an art form and promotional tool through the use of complex story lines, dance routines, special effects and cameo appearances by well known personalities etc. MJ Is The Greatest Music Artist To Ever Live The King Of Music Truly Forever!🙌🏽👑💝🔥✨💯(Also The Red Jacket Is Absolutely Legendary,Truly Iconic MJ’s Fashion Sense Is Unmatched! And Fun Fact: This was my absolute first time ever discovering Michael Jackson My Idol Ever! The moment I seen him in the Beat It Music Video is the moment I became a lifetime Moonwalker for eternity)

Agree. King of Pop and best dancer. His voice is awesome. He's like Voiceplay and Geoff. Never puts out a bad song or video. Love them all.

The colors the face expressions, you can se so much Detail, the texture of clothes. Awesome 😎😎😎😎. Can't wait when they will give us Billie jean restored.

The dance move of MJ in the hallway is deeply iconic. Remember there was nothing like this around at the time. Storytelling in a music video. Was 5 when this was released and it was my favourite song for years and years. That dance segment at the end was always great even back in 1984.

Written by Michael Jackson. All-star 🌟 band. Late Eddie van Halen on guitar solo, Greg Philinganes on keyboards, members of Toto David Paich and Steve Porcaro on keyboards and the late Jeff Porcaro on drums. This song is legendary 🙌

The role of MJ in music videos (content, length, quality) as well as getting MTV to play black artists is fundamental, enormous. It also can’t be understated what a big deal it was when MJ put out a new video in this period. Thriller was hyped for weeks and was in every kid’s calendar. You could hear a pin drop outside the first time it aired because everyone was in front of their tv.

West side story came out in 1961 because I remember in high school our teacher that was his favorite movie and he used to show it to us in class 24/7..... How's the freshman in high school and that was back in 2009 and yes Michael Jackson theme this video from that story West side story which is pretty neat and amazing

I was a little girl when this video came out, and till this day, this is one of my top favorite videos of his. I feel sad for people who didn't grow up in this era.

It's a great music video, for sure! I believe there are still younger generations that actively listen to his music 😊 Afterall, he is the king of Pop!

A couple of points here: This video was actually choreographed by Michael Peters, who also is the fighter in the white outfit. He also choreographed Michael Jackson's Thriller. Yes, MJ was an amazing dancer, no doubt about it, and I'm sure he and Peters collaborated on this choreography, but I think it says a lot about MJ that he was open to working with different choreographers and learning from them, as well as putting his own moves into his videos. Second thing -- did you hear that guitar riff at the beginning of the fight scene? That was Eddie Van Halen, one of the best hard rock guitarists around. Final note -- if you liked this video, you've got to see Weird Al Yankovich's parody "Eat It" -- hilarious! Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction -- new subscriber!

I remember MJ brought 80 real members of the deadly rival gangs; Bloods and Crips together for the video to try to garner peace. Not sure if it worked but kinda doubt it lasted.

Great reaction!! Not sure if you noticed that as the video is ending and panning out we see this is movie on the screen of a drive in theater! Not many people notice that but I’m thinking you might have since you are a filmmaker. But if not there’s a little nugget for you. Enjoy the day.

Please react to MJ Human Nature live Wembley 1988 p.s. Beat it came out 1982, part of the Thriller album which turns 40 this November. Fun fact: MJ is only 20th century artist (had his peak in 80s/90s) who currently has 26million followers of KZbin and growing, he has surpassed most current popular artists like SIA, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Kendrick, Lady Gaga.. list goes on, and isn't far behind Drake and Weeknd. He also has generated more views on his KZbin than some current artists. Also recently became the only artist in history to have multiple platinum and diamond albums and songs.. KING

At the time, dance was a form of " fighting." Using creativity through dance in competition to your rival. Lot better than today where everyone just shoots each other.
