This is a superb documentary that made me feel what was like to be there in the early 90's witnessing all the anticipation, production, release and marketing around Dangerous. I was just a kid back when it was released, so I didn't understood all the implications around it. You gave me a whole new prism in which to gaze upon to understand better MJ intentions, the evolution of his style and songs and a lot of curiosities from this era. Fantastic job to keep the narrative consistent with what was happening that time and how the world mentality was. I never realized that the Black Panther segment of Black or White was considered too "violent" that time or that In The Closet was too sexy for some audiences. Or how the implications of opening up about vitiligo would somehow obfuscate the release of a new single. Even how AIDS were treated back then, with such ignorance. The world was very different, all those things implicate in the history of this album and you made sure to contextualize all of that in a compelling way. Dangerous is not my favorite MJ album, but you made me understand it better and like it even more after 25 years. Thanks!

@@thedetail. Thank you for the video! Btw, this channel is filled with awesome videos full of curiosities and details (fitting the name of the channel). I love the Year in Detail videos, they give so much context of everything that was happening. There's so much more videos of the channel yet to watch, but still, I would love more of these documentaries. You could try dividing by period. 'Off The Wall' Era, 'Thriller' Era, 'Bad' Era... would love to watch the deep dive of these periods in one big video with all the details you gave to Dangerous. Album production, their expectations, marketing, single release order, videoclips details, media repercussion. Bad era could be longer with a lot of 'Moonwalker' details. Again, you're doing an outstanding job of organizing Michael's life in a compelling and accessible way here on KZbin. Footages that I haven't seen anywhere else. Dangerous is such an ambitious body of work that essentially serves as a significant milestone in MJ's career. It came out during a time where young millennials were just being introduced to him. And older fans were witnessing him transcend globally as this powerful juggernaut. What I love about this album in particular is you can hear MJ's influence in the beats. Even though songs like Dangerous and Jam have heavy New Jack Swing influences you can still hear sounds that you wouldn't hear in other NJS songs. Its like MJ made sure to make the sounds his own and challenged Teddy Riley to make it sound unique.

That album changed my life. Got me into dancing and singing, gave me confidence to dance and sing in public, and even helped me learn how to write my own music. I started rapping several years later but never gave up singing and i owe all that to Dangerous and Thriller. My favorite albums of all time!

Michael Jackson was the kind of man every single man should aspire to be. Humble, gracious, giving, loving, gentle. I personally like everything leading up to Dangerous, there's just some early 90s sound that I didn't care too much for on Dangerous, the production is too thin for my taste as well. There are many good songs, but I don't like a couple of them. The first real time where I felt like I didn't wanna hear the whole album after the first time I heard the whole thing once. No matter what you think of him, MJ was a brilliant entertainer that made you feel things that many if not most cannot reproduce though they may try. With brilliance often comes oddity to others. That was so true in his life especially after the heights of Thriller. If one ever wants to examine the impact of this man just compare 1000's of others musical artists who came, had a hit or two, and then disappeared. MJ came, stayed, and even after his death is being listened to by more and more new fans of his musical brilliance. That is the true standard of a legend.

You know.. Michael did not divorce till almost a year after the release of History. And the name of the attorney who wanted to put him in prison is like Tom Sneddon of the song on History and the songs Money and Scream are not really about divorce I think but rather about trying to get his money and damage his career through false accusations of the worst kind...

Dangerous is Good ass Album!!!! One of my favorite MJ albums. This his most underrated album out of his 4 Classic pop culture albums. Off the wall, thriller, BAD, Dangerous.

The dangerous work is so beyond the time even now. At my point of view, he fully achieved what he wanted, to me it's so multi-faceted and multi dimensional.

To have Prince going strong at the same time, it was so unbelievably creative. We were spoiled musically. And that's just two megastars.

@DTB1128 Diamond and Pearls is a song about love being worth much more than money. When Michael Jackson heard the song he bragged that he was the one who could afford to buy all the diamonds and pearls. That's why he died looking like "the scream", miserable and lonely.

The allegations and his changing appearance took a lot of attention away from the genius and quality of Dangerous. It's very underrated along with the Invincible album. Eventually people started focusing less on Michael's art/talent and more on his unconventional lifestyle/appearance unfortunately.

As a person who has followed MJ from his childhood to the last officially released album, I can confidently say that MJ created a constellation of albums, each stands apart and shines its own light. The guy was always at his creative peak even until the This is it rehearsals. He was peerless and Madonna is nowhere close to him. By the way, did I miss Will you be there in this documentary.
