Got till it’s gone is one of my favorites by her! But Let’s wait a while and Funny how time flies ??? Control’s has always been MY personally favorite album by her. Gonna take your advice and take a deeper listen to velvet rope though. Might change my mind!✨

I've been a Janet fan since Control, after being a Michael fan since Thriller, and it is not because of Michael. I wanted to separate her from family and DNA and all that jazz, and I wanted to base her as a totally different individual and artist. I became a fan to give her a go and admire her in her own right and not riding on Michael's coat tails. That's why she was honoured as the first MTV ICON because she truly is just as iconic as Michael. I absolutely LOVE her to bits! I've seen her perform in 1995, 1998, 2010 and 2019 and every time she just manages to pulls it off with such incredible performances and productions. I was so pissed off during the entire Superbowl wardrobe malfunction era and the media turning on her, which sucks. I have never compared Michael and Janet because to me they are incredibly iconic and legendary, in their own way and draw enormous fans and even bigger crowds. Both of them mention in interviews that they are massive fans of each other's work and they are each other's influence. Michael for example mentioned on his Private Home Movies that he loved the Rhythm Nation album era, particularly The Knowledge and would often warm up and rehearse to these songs. Michael recruited Janet's producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for the HIStory album by producing the title song as well as Scream and Tabloid Junkie. They also managed to also contribute to Is It Scary for the Ghosts video short film and the Blood On The Dance Floor album. Michael loved the New Jack Swing sound, especially recruiting Teddy Riley for Dangerous and behind, and was heavily influenced by Rhythm Nation to create that sound. Janet is Janet, and Michael is Michael, they are Jacksons but totally DIFFERENT individuals.

Janet is a LEGEND AND ICON in her own right! She has her own unique style and different sides to her music and look. Shes very quite diverse in her music. One of the most original artists around. They Inspired EACH OTHER! Both has said this and has came up with the same ideas. MJ is def King! But Janet is also QUEEN in her own right. They’re family at the end of the day. We’re just fans of theirs. We will NEVER have that access

As someone that grew up listening to Michael but didn't listen to Janet until much later but also understood how much of an impact that Janet left on the industry it personally makes me pissed off that people in the fan base that treats Janet this way and vice versa. I feel like in the case of the fan base of Michael's side at least part of it doesn't really give much respect to Janet I personally think part of it is because of the Superbowl incident. Now I can be absolutely wrong on that but I wouldn't be surprised if people on that side of the fan base treat her like shit because of it. I love Janet's music her stuff is just as good as Michael's and the tours on both careers are absolutely legendary. As someone that saw her live in 2018 and will again in 3 weeks on July 16th in Tampa I'm absolutely excited and cannot wait to see her do her thing the way I know she can. The fact that the Together Again Tour is her most successful tour of her entire career is absolutely nuts and amazing all at the same time and I love to see it! Like Joey said people won't give her her flowers until she dies most likely and I can honestly see it happening because it happens to almost all the greatest of each industry not just music. Now I hope that won't be the case for her whenever that time comes (obviously not until YEARS FROM NOW) I just want people to give her the flowers she deserves like they do with Michael. Janet didn’t get poppin cause of MJ! He helped on her two albums and it did nothing for her! So pls 😂 most of the Jacksons went solo and only JANET outside of MJ saw major global success in many different areas! She clearly is a talented woman and is NOT a one trick pony.
