He had vitiligo which started when he was teenager. When did his album off the wall it became worse and during Thriller era most of his appearance shows him with cream on his face to hide it. He ended up with a broken nose during a practice then did surgery but he had complication and lupus which made the recovery disastful. He even burn his head during a pepsi commercial (which you can find on internet) and gave him intense suffering until the day he died. Since bad era mj life became a serie of medical and surgery attention to try and fix his problems but ultimately thing just kept becoming worse has he had to remove his colour because his loss of pigmentation were too severe and well with all the surgery and his skin disease, his face changed dramaticaly and it was definitely a huge blow for Mj mentally.

About his nose, the most famous story (it seems there are many) is his father who always called him "fat nose"... Any way, I don't care about what's true or wrong, I know a lot of things have been said about Michael (sometimes by Michael himself, like about the vitiligo)... Honestly that's NOT what we must remember... Everyone who remember all of that missed the whole thing about Michael Jackson, his whole message, his whole personality, his approach and his life ! People needed so much to get answers about "Oooh why does his skin get clearer ? Why that nose ? Why that make up ?"... Like to find a reason to "pardon" him his changes... He always had to explain... But not to me. He is the way he wants to be, that's what's important, nothing else really matters... That always surprised me, shocked me even, why people felt so uncomfortable with his changes of appearance to the point they need explanations... That's his life and his body, he can do all what he wants about them, that's his will, his decisions, and nobody has any right to deny it and take it away from him...

Mike comes from the most powerful and richest country in the world with the largest mass media on earth, a country that promotes and exports its music and its shoes and its movies and its hamburgers all over the world. Bob Marley never even got a Grammy. Meanwhile mtv was pumping Michael Jackson videos in like 150 countries 24/7. And what did Bob have, maybe a couple performances on the BBC, and that was shown in England and that's it. So many people already consider Bob the king....can you imagine if he had all the things Mike had, how much bigger he would be ?

Hey Mia, so happy you are reacting to greatest entertainer that ever lived. The man endured so much pain but his love was for the people and this world. He broke his nose which is why he surgery, he burnt his scalp for Pepsi commercial which he never recovered from. He had vitiligo and lupus which was on his autopsy for the people that will try and tell you he bleached his skin. He also was never convicted of any wrong doing and beat the 14 charges in an assault from the Santa Barbara and FBI. People prefer to listen to the media who have proven to lie to us time and time again. Anyways, please keep reacting to MJ and you will have many new followers.

Hi Mia! Great reaction! In regards to his skin, he was actually suffering from a skin condition. Michael Jackson had vitiligo, a skin condition that causes white patches to appear on the skin and makes it more sensitive to sunlight. To treat the condition, he used fair-colored makeup and likely skin-bleaching prescription creams to cover up the uneven blotches of color caused by the illness. As for cosmetic surgery, a number of surgeons speculated he also had a forehead lift, cheekbone surgery and altered his lips. Jackson variously denied the reports of extensive cosmetic surgery, at times claiming to have only ever had surgery on his nose, while at other times saying that he also had a dimple created in his chin. As for Michael the artist, his music is so iconic that you will be surprised by the number of big hits he had and why so many people know his music. He will always be the King Of Pop.

Answers which you may or may not have seen already: Michael had Lupus and Vitiligo. Lupus is auto immune disease that affects alot of skin issues as well as vitiligo. He tried to hide during his early 20s with darker make up and his signature glove was actually used to hide it over his hand and it just became a fashion statement. It got too much to handle so it was easier covering it with lighter makeup. His hair is long because its actually a hair piece from when he suffered major burns on a pepsi commercial gone wrong( you can actually youtubr this video) He had to have skin graoh surgerey and left him with alot of pain. He broke his nose while dancing so he had a couple operations

To answer your question: Michael Jackson did not change his skin color, it's impossible to change skin colors to that extent. Michael Jackson had a skin disorder called "vitiligo." Vitiligo is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. This happens when melanocytes - skin cells that make pigment - are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color. Also Michael Jackson had Body Dysmorphic Disorder, most people don't know that: Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health condition in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance - Michael Jackson was very shy as a kid and growing up he was tease by his father about his appearance, and that stay with him all his life. As far as all the other stuff; nothing was ever found that he did anything bad to anyone to this day, over his life time Michael Jackson was spy on, investigated, phone tap, and every other thing under the sun was done to this man, to bring him down, why you ask? People wanted his money, racism, his music catalogs worth at the time about 2 billion dollars, and some people are just plain jealous of his fame. I hope this help.✌

Although I agree to most said here, I think we should be careful diagnosing Michael Jackson...or rather, I don't think we should. There's no real, trustworthy source saying MJ had body dysmorphic disorder. Michael Jackson grew up in the spotlight from the age of 5, with ALOT of responsibility as the lead singer. There was an abusive father in the picture and a mother that MJ rarely got to be with growing up, since Catherine Jackson wasn't aloud in the studio, rehearsal spaces, on tours, etc. So even though Catherine could have given MJ all Joseph couldn't, MJ simply didn't get enough time to receive it, properly. What this does with a person, is hard to say, but ofcourse it does something. This together with MJ always being sensitive, deeply empathic and an perfectionist artist in every fiber...the body is a canvas of expression as well. Vitiligo and lupus, are the diagnoses we know about. We also know some stuff that MJ's told us, backed up by people close, like having trouble eating in periods and how it was growing up under the conditions MJ did.

Was in Japan when he passed and it seemed like the country shutdown. It was crazy and was glad I was there and not in the States where they caused his death. Once u reach a certain level of fame and wealth the more they tear u down, the more they hate and people can only take so much. A truly successful artist pours their everything into their craft leaving them exposed and vulnerable. All that hate leads to depression and then…. It was a joy to be around those who truly appreciate him as I did. MJ and Metallica were my 1st two concerts. I got to see him during his bad tour and Cliff before his passing, truly blessed for that.

When it comes to MJ, most of his surgery started out as medical. His skin was bleached because of a slow-reacting skin condition. He changed his nose because he originally broke his nose during a concert and needed surgery to fix it. His face and hair changed because his face was accidentally lit on fire during a pepsi commercial. Basically, most of his surgery started because of medical issues, only to change it slightly here and there when he saw an opportunity to do so.

"They Don't Care About Us" was released on April 16, 1996 (US). This music video was accompanied by two music videos directed by Lee. The first was shot in two locations in Brazil: in Pelourinho, the historic city center of Salvador; and in Santa Marta, a favela of Rio de Janeiro. State authorities tried to ban production over fears the video would damage their image, the area and prospects of Rio de Janeiro staging the 2004 Olympics. Still, the residents of the area were happy to see Jackson, hoping their problems would be made visible to a wider audience. The second video was shot in a prison and contained video footage of multiple references to human rights abuses.

One of the things that most traumatized Michael Jackson was the reaction of the fans to his adolescence. We must put ourselves in context. At that time, there were a few rare TV channels and no internet. When the fans came to see a concert, the last image of Michael that they had in mind could be 2, 3 or 4 years old. So when Michael Jackson was 15/16 years old, sometimes the fans came and asked "where is little Michael?" and when he finally saw the teenager with acne and vitiligo... Michael had said that he saw in these people like disappointment and disgust when looking at him.

The question of why he changed appearance is complex. He was robbed of a childhood because he was a superstar before 10 years old. And his family were tough on him throughout. His brothers would tease him about his appearance, nose etc. So there was a sense he wanted to change his looks, get surgery etc. Then he developed a skin disease called vitiligo which causes white patches. A lot of people with dark skin may bleach certain areas to make the white patches less visible. With Jackson's mental health issues he clearly ended up bleaching all over. A lot of people say he wanted to be white, but his music always stayed with a more of a traditional black vibe. And he would associate and promote black artists constantly. So the idea he just wanted to be white felt kinda simplistic. A complicated man, but a genius. The biggest and most famous musical artist of all time. P.S - you're adorable and your reactions make me smile

The other version of the song is the "prison version" where he exposes the systemic racism and police brutality. But his biopic coming in october 2025 will explain the man and the artist. ❤

He suffered from a skin condition called vitiligo, which his children also had, and that's why he wore the iconic glove to cover the lighter skin on his hand. He underwent facial surgery because he resembled his father, who abused him and his brothers during their childhood a theme reflected in Michael Jackson's song "Childhood." However, he did not seek to change his skin color but makeup was used to even out the lighter areas. He was an incredibly sensitive individual, living in a world way different from ours, with unimaginable pressures. he was the loneliest king, he was also the most famous and beloved. I still miss him dearly. Being a fan since 1975( Jackson 5 ) I was fortunate to attend three of his live concerts. lucky me 😎

Tabloid Junkie is another absolute banger from Michael, I think you'll love it Mia. It's not as well known as his bigger hits which are all great but Tabloid Junkie is political in a similar way to They Don't Care About Us and the music is so, so good!! You should react to it some day.

To really appreciate his talent you should go back to the beginning and react to him and his brothers performing together as The Jackson 5. Their Meldey on The Ed Sullivan show which features the songs Stand, Who's Loving You and I Want You Back is amazing. He was 11 years old at the time and you will love watching him perform

"We are a minute and 30 seconds in and I can say that this is 100% my favorite Michael Jackson song." You need to listen to more Michael Jackson, Mia I feel like the more MJ you listen to the more you will say "You know what? I change my mind. This is my new favorite Michael Jackson song." Listen to really any song from "Off The Wall" and "Thriller". His "Bad" album had some super good ones. The song Bad, Smooth Criminal, Man in the Mirror, The Way You Make Me Feel and Dirty Diana. Those are probably like the most popular hits from Bad. I love those songs but my personal faves are I Just Can't Stop Loving You and Another Part of Me. From the Dangerous album there's "Gone Too Soon" "In the Closet" "Black or White" "Heal The World" "Jam" and probably the biggest hit from that album "Remember The Time". This is just some of his solo work. We haven't gone back to his Jackson 5 and Jackson's days.

Wow, nice your hair down. Michael Jackson was a great entertainer back in the day and thinks he had some kind of health problem with his skin. But my favorites from Jackson 5 up to his last album.

Continue down this journey and you'll discover how amazing MJ really was. Look forward to seeing more MJ Reactions. I'm requesting dirty diana for your next one. Michael didn't have as much plastic surgery as people think he had his nose done a few times. A clift put into his chin (dimple) he used make up as a result of having a skin condition called vitiligo which destroys skin pigment and he also wore wigs due to burns on his scalp.

This song has another version called "Prison Version," which I believe is better than this version. It perfectly fits with the lyrics of the song, you should check it out; you will love that version more than this one. And to your question; Michael Jackson didn't changed his skin colour on purpose; he had Vitiligo, a skin disease that causes skin colour to turn white; if you want to completely understand his skin colour changing situation, I strongly recommend you to watch the video "Michael Jackson's Blackness" by Jackson Passion. Please check it out :)

Well he had surgery done on his nose but everything else was not his fault. his autopsy proved he wasn`t lying about any of his ailments. He had vitiligo amongst other things and the larger portion of his skin lost its pigment. Michael felt self conscience about the disease and thought people were going to say he looked like a cow because he would have black and white skin. When the disease first started and the majority of his skin was black he would cover up the white patches with dark make up, when the white color or pigment loss spread and became so extensive that he only had a few black pigment spots left on his body he used the dermatologist recommended cream that took away the last few bits of black skin he had left because he was fine as long as he wasn`t two colors. The straight hair is wigs he wore after suffering hair loss and 2nd and 3rd degree burns while filming a concert commercial with his brothers. Someone set of the explosion too early and Michael`s hair caught on fire and he didn`t even notice at first. there is video of the accident.

Me, as since I first time heard a song from Michael as a kid still a fan of him even do not know why the heck he has done so much to his view and especially his skin. He said he has a skin problem, but I don't believe this. He liked cartoons and I guess he wanted to look like a cartoon,.^^ I liked him much more as he had more color.^^ 86-89 was his top notch look for me. My favorite songs of him are: Beat It Billie Jean Another Part Of Me Dirty Diana and also this one you reacted.^^
