I loved the Thriller album when it came out, and it still ranks as one of my favorite MJ albums ever. But whenever I watch this video, it takes me back to summer camp when I was a kid. One of our counselors had the "Making of" on VHS, followed by the actual video, and she would play it for us at the end of the day while we were waiting for our parents to come pick us up. It the most attentive they could get all us kids to be all damn day. We all loved Michael, and we all loved Thriller. The 80's was a great time to be a kid

I totally agree with you on several points. The girl was just not all that bright. Like all the screaming (and not running away in the beginning). It's like, "Would you RUN! Stop screaming and run!" And then looking behind her while she's running, so of course she falls. And then later, like you said, running into the creepy house with all of them following her instead of hiding in the woods somewhere lol But anyway, this came out when I was 19 (like their age) and it was always such a big event on TV when they aired one of his videos and this one blew us all away. The dancing, the make-up, the music - phenomenal!

I was 12 when this came out and the making of Thriller VHS or Beta was the biggest thing outside the jacket. Everyone and I mean everyone in school doing this neck popping and locking routine. I know this may be hard to believe now but we had to wait up until midnight WITH our parents to watch MJ videos. He was groundbreaking for people of color because outside of Dier Straights and Billy Idol there were no people of color music videos.
