Fun Facts (that actually sad not that fun): - Michael Jackson's friend once shut down a whole shopping mall in Florida so he could experience what it was like to shop in a store and had Michael's friends dress up as supermarket staff. Michael said "It's my dream to go into a supermarket and just shop. Just be like everybody else and put things in a basket. Because I can't do it." - Barbara Streisand built a shopping mall in her basement to experience shopping. - After Michael's trial in 2005 where he was proven innocent, he moved to Bahrain for a year and while out and about he'd wear a woman's burka to not be recognized.

ANOTHER FUN FACT: Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis were coming up with several tracks for Michael to choose from for when they would record with Michael and Janet. One was for Scream and the other was for what would become Runaway. Janet was really hoping that Michael didn’t choose Runaway because she wanted that one. She still knew that Michael would choose scream. When Jimmy asked how she knew, she said, “I know my brother.” When Michael listened to the list of tracks, he liked them all but asked to hear the ones for Scream and Run Away again. He then chose Scream, and Janet smirked at Jimmy.

You guys hit it on the head as to why she waiting so long to collaborate with him as well. She wanted to make sure that she was big enough on her own first. By the time they did this, they were equally seen as the most famous male and female artists on the planet! They wrote the song together. Janet’s documentary shows scenes of them writing it together. There is also an MTV making the video for it on KZbin. As famous as you all are bragging that Michael is, this was also Janet in the 90s. Like literally the fans passing out and all. Janet was the highest paid artist of all time at time of the 90s! Don’t sleep on the QUEEN! The only reason people don’t know as much about her now is because she was blackballed on music and videos after the superbowl for over 15 years! The other part of this song was about all of the allegations that Michael was dealing with at the time. Janet wanted to show support and solidarity with her brother by doing this song.

Michael had asked Janet to be on his 1991 album "Dangerous" but Janet declined him, exactly for the reason you speculated, she didnt want people to say that she's just famous because of her brothers and the Jackson name. She had just done the rhythm nation album and tour and wanted to show more of what she was capable of. After the 1993 child abuse allegations Janet finally said yes to the collab. She wanted to show Michael her support and let him get all his frustrations out on the song. There is a clip, from Janet's documentary, of them sitting in Michael's NYC apartment writing the lyrics together and Janet trying to get him to swear on the song.

On KZbin there is a special he did where it showed really like. And there is footage of his friends closing down a supermarket and allowing him to read the experience of what it’s like to actually shop and grocery store. So they have people that he knew dressed as grocery store employees. It’s really fun and funny! You guys should check it out and react to that! He was also famous for going out in these big elaborate disguises. Somewhere really convincing, others were not convincing at all and just threw more attention but there is a story of how he knew how to sneak in and out of places like movie theaters. A friend wants to the story of how he and Michael and his kids were able to watch a movie surrounded by every day people because they slipped in after the movie started and left before the credits and were seated in such a way that nobody noticed him because all of your attention was on the screen. Another fun fact is that Janet tried to go out in costume as an old man one time and she says a little boy noticed her in the disguise and told his mom that he saw Janet Jackson. His mom said leave at poor old man alone lol

PLEASE READ: So in her documentary, there is footage of her and Michael writing the song together. Michael was so impressed with her performance in singing black cat that he told her that she’s got a come with it and bring the fire basically, to use the voice she did in black cat. And you got to see them going through discussing the lyrics and when the F word comes up lol. It doesn’t show in her documentary, but in the second video Jimmy jam explains that Michael came in sounding as soft and meek as he normally does, but when he gets into the booth, he goes wild like the Tasmanian devil just ripping and killing it. As soon as he finishes, and his regular soft voice he asked how that take was. Jimmy jam, Terry, and Janet were left speechless. Janet decided that she did not want to follow his act in her verse that day, so she recorded her vocals separately in Minneapolis. When Michael finally heard her vocals, he was SO impressed that he told Jimmy that he wanted to re-record his vocals in Minneapolis. Even though Jimmy assured him that he sounded great and there was no need to re-record, he insisted. Jimmy laughed because they are both competitive but against each other as siblings. Still, most of the vocals you hear in the song or Michael’s original. But that just goes to show Janet’s range and what she was able to do and how much she respected her. If you listen to the a cappella version, she sounds even more impressive!

You definitely know Michael Jackson songs from the 90s. This is one of them. This was released in 1995. Janet Jackson has a song from the Rhythm Nation album called Black Cat which she wrote and was the 1st time she sang in this fashion. When I 2st heard this the 1st thing I said excitedly was "she's singing in the Black Cat voice!" A few years ago Janet released footage of her working on the song with Mike and in it he directed her saying "I want you to sing it with the voice you used for Black Cat." 😁 Great minds think alike. Michael was super famous since the age of 12. And yes, he actually did often go out in public in disguise and was usually successful at it.

You know whats interesting? Today it seems so distant, but during this time period Janet was a bigger star. She was on to of the world and just digned an $80 million record deal with Virgin. Michael, on the other hand, was having a career low after the child molestation trial and was attempting to get on top again. So he called her, let her decide the producers and the video director. She had commercial and street credibility and he needed help. She was the little sister having his back
